Commercial Description:
Uerige DoppelSticke might just be "Germany's interpretation of a barley-wine", ie a third definition next to England's "malt-driven" idea {such as JW Lees Vintage Harvest Ale} and America's "hop-heavy" version {such as Sierra Nevada's BigFoot}. OG - 1085; IBU - 75; Ingredients; Hops:Spalt Spalter, Hallertauer Perle, Spalt Hallertauer; Malts: Pilsner malt, caramel malt, roasted malt

Bottled. An unclear brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and some fruit. The flavor is very sweet with notes of caramel, malt, and a bit of alcohol, leading to an alcohol dry finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottled. Hazy copper colour. Grassy aroma. A very powerful beer with thick mouthfeel. Plenty of malt sweetness and obvious notes of licorice. Much more barley wine character than altbier character, and with all the warming qualities of a barley wine.

Very dark red-brown. Very thick head. Fun light fruitiness and deep caramel complexity. Full, rich, big deep earthy caramel malts, orangey-fruity yeast and a hint of woody, citrusy hop late. Alcohol emerges slightly in the finish. Unique, intense. 4-7-8-4-16

Gravity cask, BPP, Seattle
The proprietor of the BPP launched this beer the night before, but actually pulled the cask as it got low in order that a couple of us beer writers could get a taste when they opened the next day. For me, the beer was sadly yet another disappointment from one of Germany’s most overrated brewers. Bright, dark amber colour with a fairly rich head. Fresh hoppy aroma (grass mostly) with sticky caramel malts. A little thin, hints of caramel. Timid. I have a bottle as well just in case the condition suffered overnight. 7-3-6-3-13 = 3.2
