bhensonb (4187), Woodland, California, USA Aug 12, 2007 11.2 oz. bottle; 02.11.?? Malty caramel aroma with a hint of hop. Ruby apricot color with a beige head. A bit thin. Moderate carbonation. The flavor is gritty caramel, with some notes of coffee. The finish is fairly dry, and the bitter is noticeable, but not heavy. Intriguing. MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA Jul 22, 2007 11.2 oz bottle, bottled on 11/25/06 I assume. Poured a murky light brown with some orange notes. Small off white head that disappeared quickly. Big malt aroma with some caramel. Flavor is mostly malt with some caramel and a small touch of chocolate. Maybe a little coffee too. Bitter finish. Good. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Jul 13, 2007 7/13/2007: Uerige Alt is honey amber in color with a slightly more reddish tone than the <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Beer/uerige-alt/7836/39793/>Uerige Alt. This beer is pretty clear and has a thin off-white head that doesn’t last long. The aroma is rich and has caramelized malt and little bit of fruit (apple and something else). The flavor is also malty, but not overly sweet. The malt flavor in the Uerige Sticke is definitely darker tasting (not necessarily roasted; caramelized is probably most apropos) than the Uerige Alt. The malt is balanced by a reserved hop presence and bitterness level. There is also a little bit of fruit in the flavor that is difficult to describe (maybe dark berries?). The finish of this beer is also nicer than the Uergie Alt and the citrus peel afertaste isn’t quite as pungent. The body of this beer is medium and it feels a bit heavier in the mouth than the Uerige Alt. It is smooth on the palate. Uerige Sticke is a very drinkable Alt Bock and is pretty good overall.

RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Jul 9, 2007 Rich aroma, almost a candied guava. The flavor is rich but with a firm hop bitterness cutting through the finish. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 26, 2007 Bottle. Low pop when opened. Poured a deep amber body with thin ehad. Aroma is malt, fruity hops, light caramel. Flavor is caramel, strong fruity hops, sweet taste. The fruitiness was not too strong but I could not place a finger on what this reminded me of. Nice beer. b33r (363), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jun 5, 2007 Bottled on 25.10, Code 11 26, whatever that means. Great looking bottle! Stored in a friend’s uncle’s basement since he bought leftover stock from an out-of-business liquor store a few years ago in the DC area. Muddy brown color and cloudy with very small head and no lacing. Aroma was rich and malty. Flavor had strong caramel notes, malts, some bitter hops, and was still a little sweet. Very interesting and good for my first Alt LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 27, 2007 Outstanding altbier. Thanks Ron at Vintage Estates. Beautiful brown pour with a 2 finger off white head. Aroma of malt. Taste of roasted malt, caramel and some hop in the finish. Perfectly carbonated and nice dry but satisfying finish. kkearn (994), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 14, 2007 11.2oz flip top bottle. Dark amber with a 1/2inch off white head. Sweet malt aroma with notes of caramel and grass. Malt, nut and herbs at first; finishes with some hops that stick around for a fairly long finish. There’s also a bit of ash in the finish.
