GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA May 19, 2006 Pours an amber copper color with a shallow creamy froth. Comes in a bottle shaped like a German granade. Aroma is of malted biscuits. Very nice. I am already impressed. I am waiting to take a sip. Trying to imagine the texture and flavor. Here I go. WOW, not knowing what to expect at all, this has turned into a very surprising result. I am still impressed. Flavors are dry and malty with a fresh biscuit tropshire. A creamy texture like an English bitter. A nicely ballanced sour bittering on the finish. This is a brew you can drink all day. Well ballanced, alcohol is well hidden and flavors are perfect. I love it when the bitterness is consumed with a malty backbone. Keeps you hanging in the ballance. Highly recommended. TPaliga (212), Munster, Indiana, USA May 10, 2006 Pours deep brown with small head. Fruity aroma apple raisin and citrus. Taste is sweet roasted malts, carmel, raisin. Light palate with excellent bright flavor. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA May 3, 2006 Bottle. Rich copper color with a nice off-white head. Caramel and earthy aroma. Earthy, caramel flavor with some underlying grassiness and citrus. Medium bodied. Some mineral tones. thornecb (1736), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Apr 24, 2006 Updated: May 2, 2007Pours a cloudy brown into a farmhouse water glass. No head whatsoever -- and no evidence of carbonation. Malt aromas - dates, plums, dough. Flat, sticky and figgy with a long lasting bitter malt finish. brewblackhole (1367), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Apr 22, 2006 Sweet malty grapey toffee aroma, a sweet but not overly so taste, that reminded me of a non tart sugary iced tea, texture was surprisngly smooth,I thought it was wonderful, almost hated to take that last sip. Fantastic brew, fabulous bottle. joet (1699), Fulton, California, USA Apr 9, 2006 Excellent packaging, nice dark semieffervescent liquid in the glass, looks good, brown turbinado sugar in the nose, touch of toffee, sweet carmels on the tongue balanced something tart and cidery. Interesting. It’s not real lively or hoppy or smokey but still plain, obvious and curious. dkoonce (880), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA Mar 19, 2006 Dark, almost black, with a head that quickly fades. Heavy malt aroma with a slight mustyness. Heavy and sweet. OldMrCrow (1179), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 16, 2006 Updated: Oct 1, 2009From the beautiful bottle, with a nice burst of pressure upon opening.
The beer pours a cloudy amber with a beautiful head and lacing. The aroma is subdued, hinting at the caramel malts and grassy hops that will delight the tongue. The flavor is mellow but absolutely lovely -- warm malt, caramelized pears, a hint of pepper, iron, and a soft rounded bitter hop finish. The mouthfeel is both rich and refreshing, and overall the beer is a great pleasure to drink. What a nice brew!
