maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA Feb 3, 2006 Clear amber color with a thick creamy white head. Aroma of malt with hints of honey. Sweet flavor with light hops. puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Feb 2, 2006 Very hoppy though light aroma much like an APA, though with touches of eastern european hops. Pours burnt orange with nice though fizzy head. Taste doesn’t match up with APA so much as a pilsner in that it has nice hopping but a balanced hop backbone that is medium thickness though still assertive. WhiteAlePower (91), Long Island, New York, USA Jan 23, 2006 Bottle. Had this a while back, am now updating my "rated" list. Poured a nut-brown, nutty pleasant aroma. Had a good head, and excellent flavour. Another very drinkable beer! chilehead (186), Laguna Niguel, California, USA Jan 21, 2006 Pours slightly haze nut brownwith an off-white head and good head retention. Nose is of a malty brown with some wood and tobacco notes. Mouthfeel is medium with moderate carbonation and a dry finish. Flavors are more malty than hoppy, nutty with a bit of roast. Fairly straightforward and pleasant. beeryum (652), Norcross, Georgia, USA Jan 16, 2006 Old notes from a tasting last year. Brown pour, decent head. Nutty malty aromas, and a bit doughy. Sweet malty flavors, some dough/bread, some nuts, some wood. Clean finish. Fairly enjoyable, and surprisingly bigger than I expected for an altbier.

href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=9658 target=blank> beerhugger, thanks Steve. Copper in colour, off-white head (good retention), some lace. The aroma is malty (cookies, caramel), some citrus hops and some smoke. The flavour was malty (cookies, bready, caramel), slightly sweet, cirtus hops, nutty. Bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes with a lingering hop bite, dry. Quite nice. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jan 2, 2006 Actually had this a couple of months ago, just misplaced the rating sheet. Faint aroma, pretty headless. Much lighter taste and pretty malty compared to the doppel. Haps come through only in the aftertaste. Cloudy amber color. A decent beer, but no match for the doppelsticke. demitriustown (689), Shelby Township, Michigan, USA Dec 26, 2005 Pours a dark copper with minimal head. Aroma is dry white wine, caramel, thickly malted, a nice stickiness to it, a little nutty I think similar to cashews. Caramel, slight nuttiness, bitter sting when first hits your tongue then spreads into a semi-sweet chocolate taste. Palate is kind of light with a subtle stickiness. Unique experience with a nice Alt. I wish I had a bigger bottle of this.
