Retorp (2154), Tampa, Florida, USA Dec 15, 2005 Lots of sweet malt in the aroma. Caramel, brown sugar and molasses. Light amber in color with a head that is both creamy and bubbly. Has a deep fruity sweetness in the fore followed by a crisp, but tongue coating flavor of peanut skins. Never come across that before in a beer. porterhouse (1148), Alna, Maine, USA Dec 15, 2005 (Bottle, "bottled on 31.01.") Pours a brownish amber with a smallish biege head. Aroma: maltiness plus some brown sugar and caramel. Pretty good lacing. Great body, mouthfeel nice and chewy. Flavor: reserved malt caramel sweetness with some sourishness in finish - don’t think this is a bad bottle, so guess the sourishness is supposed to be there. swatskee (17), Ohio, Ohio, USA Dec 14, 2005 wow, a very complex drink indeed. caramel and malty nose, malt & fruits flavor with a very complex semi-sweet tounge as it finished with a unique, sour twist in the finish that quickly dissapears with no aftertaste... it’s really strange, but this is a very, very well put together, unique drink. ultraspank (866), Dublin, Ohio, USA Dec 12, 2005 Had one of these at the Winking Lizard. Should have kept the bottle. Light floral and
fruit notes dominate the subtle but very pleasant nose. Caramel tones leak out a bit as
brew warms. The brew pours a dark color characteristic of mahogany or walnut. The tall
off white frothy head is mostly lasting with good lace character. The brew starts nice and
malty with moderate acidity and exceptional balance with a nice long full finish. The
medium creamy and soft body has an astringent feel to the finish. Exceptional offering. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA Dec 6, 2005 bottle-thanks whaleman for the recomendation! pours copper with a small soapy off-white head and sparse lacing. aromatically, this beer has alot of complexity for the style-carmel, cheeries, fresh cut wood, toasty maltness, some faint cinammon, and spice chracacter with some nice chocolate notes. nice body-full and slick. flavors are very malty, chocolate, light bitterness from some earthy hops. very nice and probably the best alt i have ever had! DewBrewer (265), Austin, Texas, USA Dec 4, 2005 33cL flip-top. Copper and clear. Medium head. Big malt aroma, some grassiness and breadiness. Wow, the flavor is so clean with the big malt and the bitterness at the end is very nice. Medium body. It is very well balanced with an excellent palate with just the right carbonation. Excellent beer! Can’t wait to finally make it to Dusseldorf. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA Dec 1, 2005 Dark caramel with athin but creamy head.
Metalic, sweet malty aroma.
Flavor is sweet but not overly so, spice, ripe fruits, caramel.
Easy , sweet , creamy finish. Slick (1962), Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA Nov 30, 2005 Cloudy amber color, medium sized white head that had a decent hangtime then faded slowly to leave a bit of a lcae behind. The aroma was malty and nicely hoppy with a slight citrusy side to it.I have a cold so it’s hard to tell.malty caramel flavor with a nice hop presence and over all not bad at all.Fairly well balanced and smooth,i could go for a few more of these.
