Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Nov 20, 2005 Bottled. Pour was a hazy medium amber with orange highlights and a tall, creamy beige head. Fragrant grassy and floral hops meshed with a considerable amount of caramel maltage... very enticing. Caramel malts and fresh floral hops throughout the flavor, too... along with some nuttiness. Smooth and medium-bodied at best on the palate, with some hoppy bitterness at the finish. Quite an enjoyable brew, and Style Rating #70. bombshelter (349), Washington, Washington DC, USA Nov 14, 2005 bottle from cairo. low carbonation, pours a cloudy dark amber. aroma is very mild...malt, some roast? medium body, decent malty base, but the finish is unpleasantly medicine-y. this is average at best. jerome6957 (17), New York, New York, USA Nov 9, 2005 Bottle from Fancy Grocery NYC. Pours a dark amber with a small white head that diminishes quickly. Big molasses and grapefriut aroma, with some raisin and toffee back there too. Wonderful Munich malt flavor, moderately sweet, followed by an avalanche of hop flavor. What was great about this beer is that just as the malts start to give out, the bitterness kicks in, allowing you to get the best of both, with little blending. How’d they do that? A real treat. Frank (1064), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 2, 2005 Dark amber w/ a tight head that diminishes to a nice ring. Very nicely balanced flavor--a deep munich malt richness balanced w/ a flor nobel hop aroma and a good dash of bitterness. Delectably quaffable and an elegent example of the style. Neato bottle too. Probiere (992), Iowa, USA Oct 31, 2005 A little sweeter and a little fuller than the regular Uerige, with the bitterness in the finish a little more tamped down. The carbonation seemed low and for the sweetness the mouthfeel tended towards being watery, which was odd. I’d love to have some more caramel taste in here. Schanulleke (8), Netherlands does not count Oct 30, 2005 Tasted 18th jan. 2005 at the brewery. A very good beer but measured bitterness was only 26 IBU’s. All the stories on the internet about higher hoprates and dry hopping are b******t. It has more alcohol than Uerige Alt, but less bitterness. HumuloneRed (750), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 29, 2005 Bottle. I had first had this beer in Chicago last year. Clear amber with a foamy tan head and lacing. One of the first alt. Beers I have had that is so complex. Nutty malt and a grassy hop bite. Nice beer. altkencru (143), USA Oct 28, 2005 One of my favorites. Drink slightly chilled or else you won’t get the full flavor.
