Commercial Description:
Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today's fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn't negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

Crisp, wonderful body, and brisk hops. Certainly worth the money, even if you are paying a little extra for the bottle. Truly classic and really unlike anything else coming from germany. Makes me want to rent a flat in Dusseldorf.

Bottle Courtesy of dortmunder. Thanks!
BB 13.02 Bottled 14.01 (?!) Shining ruby/amber. Breadlike heavy aroma. Toasted bread. Full bodied. Sticky (!) palate. Sort of Belgian dubbel, bockbier, old ale combo. My first Sticke after 20 years of beer hunting! Too yeasty for my taste, but maybe it is supposed to be like this. Sweet and quite hoppy taste. If it wasn’t for yeast, this would be very pleasant. I prefer the "ordinary" alt from this brewery.

I liked this bottle as well as the other uerige. This sticke was better then the other. Deep rudy with tan head. Good aroma of dark fruits and caramel. Touch of hop to finisf. Smooth mouth feel and good brew.

11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a deep garnet red with average white head that settles to a film rather quickly. Aroma is quite good, heavy on malt, with plum, purne, a little bubblegum, and some resiny hop. Flavor is very nice, very malty with a vinous finish on the first sip. This has a really long lasting finish due to its mouth coating palate. Mouthfeel is perfect, just the right amount of carbonation sot that it doesn’t interfere with tasting the flavor. Hop bitterness comes out more as the beer warms and really balances the malt well. This stuff’s pretty awesome, very recommended.

Great bottle, definitely a keeper! Pours maple syrup brown with a quickly settling off-white head. Aroma is rich and inviting with sweet malt presenting itself on a background of floral hops while notes of alcohol drift in and out of the nose. Flavor is sweet and floral; malty with understated hops character and teasing alcohol nibbles. In a word, intoxicating. Uerige Sticke is a fantastic seasonal beer and I feel quite fortunate to have found a bottle this afternoon. This is a beer that I could definitely see myself stocking up on around the holidays.

Bottled on 25.10. Code 11 26

I have to admit, I’m a bit of a "bottle whore" and that’s what attracted me to this beer... a well crafted and unique swing-top with sparse labels and a healthy dose of raised lettering in the glass, including a line of braille at the bottom! Excellent!

Appearance was an almost-mahogany body, slightly hazed with a creamy, little head. Aromas were well malted with raisin, honey & caramel over grains and earthiness... an overall impression of a sweet breakfast cereal. Nicely balanced flavors with sweet malts proving dominance. Smooth and slightly thick on the tongue with a touch of alcohol at the end that made me smile. Quite delicious. Hoping to find a bigger bottle.

Pours a brilliantly clear ruby amber color that is topped by a frothy, thinnish, tan colored head. The aroma is quite fruity with notes of brandy, and rum, hints of strawberry, citrus and lightly spicy notes. Actually a fairly interesting aroma that is still intriguing after these 6 months. The taste is lightly sweet and fairly malty with notes of caramel. This is quite fruity as well with notes of cherry, raisins, and a bit of strawberry and some notes of bergemot as well. For some reason the fruity character in an Alt I have always associated as an interesting mix of hop and malt character. This has held up much better, in the voyage across the Atlantic, than the regular Alt did, though it stills suffers quite a bit from the voyage.
