I love this beer. I prefer the taste of DoppelSticke but I’m not always in the mood for an 8.5% beer. Then again, this is deceptive at 6.5% and could probably get you in trouble. That’s my kinda trouble, though... Malakin (465), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

Nice amber in color with a quick, fluffy white head. Caramel malts are playing nicely with classic, noble hops Finished fairly quickly with lingering hops. Thanks to bkelley for the brew! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 20, 2005 11.2 oz. custom bottle. Pleasant, nutty, sweet aroma, some caramel and hazelnut with hints of creamy toffee, flowery, spicy hops and cookieish malts. Some vague fruits lurking in the background. Rusty dark orange color with a slight, fine head. Flavor depth is highly impressive, with plenty of toasty, succulent, sugary, bready malts up front and bright, tangy, salty, herbal, fruity, spicy bitterness underneath, intertwined with notes of butterscotch and leafy hops. Light, refreshing, peppery mouthfeel with a low level of effervescence, body is medium. Incredibly drinkable and a fine Alt. Suttree (2708), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Peppery and earthy, with a piney undertone. Very tasty, with a surprisingly hoppy finish. Thanks Springslicker! DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 12, 2005 Marcello’s Wine Market, Baton Rouge, La. - long necked 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a dark copper color with a thin, but long lasting off-white head that leaves thick, sticky lacing. Aroma is sweet and caramel like with hints of toffee and cotton candy. Very good caramel flavor with some bitter chocolate undertones. Same bitter notes that are found in many of my favorit Bristish session ales. Turns a tad metallic near the end and just a bit thinnish, but still a very flavorful Alt. bierkoning (6023), La Tropica, Netherlands
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 11, 2005 Bottle, best until 13.02.05. Dark amber color, small head. Vinous aroma with biscuit. Hoppy, very malty flavor. This beer has a good hop character, but that is cahllanged by the malt, the wine-like character and the biscuit and butterscotch flavors. World class beer!. Thanks Dortmunder, for providing me with this gem.
