Commercial Description:
Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today's fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn't negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

Bottled 11.2 oz. Mahogany brown. Light roasted malt aroma mixed with some fruit. Good carbonation. Malty with some hoppy bitterness at end. A good clean taste. Multiple tastings.

I bought this because it;s a pretty cool bottle. This puppy is a little old. Bottled Sept of 01! Roasty caramel sweet malts with hints of mint, roastiness and metallic notes. Transparent amber color with an off-white head. Quite thin, roasty, and malty with coffee hints and some DMS to finish. A tad boozy...

Bottled. Nut brown. Intensely roasty, sweet, and thick rich maltiness. Notes of licorice and ash, richly hoppy with really bitter finish.

Peculiar chock full of rye and carroway nose with a touch of carmel and a touch of alcohol. Firm mouthfeel with a lot of strange maltieness (more of that rye) pepper, earthy hops and a little alcohol. Very smooth and lingers a while with more maltiness.

Clear amber color with a rapidly diminishing head. The aroma is mostly hoppy and the flavor is likewise bitter and lightly hoppy. It is hard to see what makes this beer such a big dea., though maybe its the top beer in its style class.

Very cool bottle, to be considered in appearance. Reddish brown, malty appearance with a light fizz but not much head. Bready, German hops aroma, some caramel cookies, French Fries, and Coppertone suntan lotion. Long-lasting bitterness, though fairly well rounded. Moderate palate, smooth. Interesting; a style I don’t know well enough yet.

Clear, dark coppery color, 1/4" ring of dusted brown head. Aroma speaks of little at first, but squeaks up a bit to talk of coffee, cocoa, nuts, a glorious, dark-toned morass. So, drink up! Ah, smoo-oo-ooth, with a deep, roasty, dark tinge on the palate. Delicate and delcicious, tangible touch on the tongue, great cocoa/coffee feel, that is so light, but so right! Tasty, tasty, tasty! Niceness personified in this bottle! Hurray for the lucky pubfolk of Dusseldorf that get to enjoy this freshly flowing! After my critical faculties have retired, it’s nothing but pure enjoyment, full-bodied,long-finish, but so perfectly smooth, I’m left uttering nothing but simple praise: Yu-umm, I’m saying, and wowwy-wow, wow!

(Bottle) Packaged in a cool looking flip-top bottle. Pours an amber-brown with a thin white head. Aroma of caramel, sweet malts, and hops. Flavors of caramel, banana-nut bread, malts, and butterscotch. Enjoyable beer.
