Doughy aroma with some spices. Caramel malt flavor. Medium body with tongue tingling carbonation. Decent and interesting. Beershine (2686), Hue, Vietnam
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 24, 2009 Mousy brown color, clear until the sediment is poured in. Lingering beige cap. Sweet doughy aroma, cookie dough with raisins. Low carbonation, very soft mouthfeel. Interesting flavors, the bitterness is pronounced of the herbal, spicy zone. The sweet malt balances it out. Very interesting brew, can’t wait to visit Dusseldorf... BroSpud (597), , Massachusetts, USA

Pours a hazy brown with lots of sediment. A bit pricey but worth checking out at least for a taste. Looking forward to trying doppel sticke. shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 18, 2009 Bottle from BOTW. I picked it up from the store the same week it arrived and it was already about 6 months after the bottling date. Bottled 10.08. The pour is a hazy amber with a white head of tight bubbles. Aroma is malty and spicy and a touch doughy. Flavors are a touch bitter and spicy. Definitely easy to drink, but not as special as I would have anticipated. Perhaps the age has dulled this one. It’s really a shame that we in states can’t get European beers faster. swoopjones (1897), Buffalo, New York, USA

Taste was underwhelming but clean. Caramel malts, some fruitiness. Balanced but not terribly exciting SSSteve (2060), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 22, 2009 Small flip top bottle, popped the top and got a good poof! I was not expecting that, gave a hazy ruby brown pour with a one to two finger off-white creamy foamy head that receded to a thin cover, leaves some lacing on the glass, aroma of bread, faint caramel and grass, flavor of bread, dark bread, some malt sweetness, some fruit, there is a pronounced hop bitterness and dryness on the palate at the finish, hop bitterness lingers for a bit on the tongue to, nice drink. cheapdark (2015), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 23, 2009 "Odd flip top shaped bottle 11.2 oz. In a big 22 oz shapely beerglass. Hazy lighter brown color. Farmy musty barnyard olfactory with a strong alky base aroma of caramel and sweet candy. Oooh, quite a strong initial alky experience. Rather nock you off your pleasant contentment feeling. Rather strong initially, did I say that already? Aroma gets more farmlike as the session continues. Definately a stronger beer but it becomes more acceptable as the session moves past the inception. inish is surprisingly acceptable for a stronger beer. leaves an overal good experience. S6L4F2T4O12"
