sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Jan 28, 2009 2002 bottle courtesy of retorp.
Pours clear brown with thin white head.
Aroma is fruity and has a damn enjoyable sugary nose.
Taste malty, caramel with a light hoppy mouthfeel reminding me of a pilsner. Light touch of dark fruits - cherry -
A fine Altbier Skeegle (476), Maryland, USA Jan 28, 2009 great session beer, if only it were cheaper. I can’t justify the $8 purchase of a bottle of this, but oddly enough I found a bottle for $3 at a beer bar. Lots of malts here, and not many hops to balance it. It tastes pleasantly full and lightly alcoholic. Exactly the type of beer I could have 8 of in one night and not tire from it. Nice caramel taste to it. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA Jan 27, 2009 On tap @ Redlight. Cloudy opaque leather color with a thin, even, very light tan head. Light grainy aroma, slight nuttiness, slight earthy hops. Nice smooth taste - heavy, spicy malts. kraemer420 (14), Terre Haute, Indiana, USA Jan 24, 2009 A spicy rasin feel to this amber brown colored beer.. taste is complex in nature and has a nice crisp finish.. Enjoy tmoreau (527), Lombard, Illinois, USA Jan 16, 2009 On tap at the Bavarian Lodge, Lisle, Il. Properly served in an altbier glass. Dark amber hue with a diminishing, white head and thick, solid lacing. The aroma had a touch of yeast, floral, and light fruit notes. The flavor also adds a nice malt and dryness combo. The mouthfeel is crisp and clean, with lively carbonation. Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA Jan 2, 2009 Bottle, John’s Grocery, Iowa City, Iowa. Very unusual yellow-rusty pour, small white layer of fine head. Mint, candied orange, blood, earth. Fine, salty/dry bitterness, with a woody, old fruitcake finish. Very refreshing, and I dig the dryness, but overall it feels a little bit dull. Maybe a fresher example would have more life. kiefdog (1534), Tampa, Florida, USA Dec 18, 2008 On tap at the Oldsmar Tap House (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark brown hazy color with a frothy white head. Aroma is malty and sweet with notes of hops, phenol, honey and slight notes of raisins and ripe dark fruit. Flavor is also sweet and malty with notes of ripe dark fruit, raisins, hints of prunes, caramel, and spice. Generally medium body with a sweet and malty finish. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Dec 17, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Surprised this one is only 6.5 abv. So much body it feels like it has to be higher. Very bitter but also compllex flavor. Gives me a bit more faith in Uerige after the last two Ive tried.
