ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Dec 16, 2008 Pours a murky light brown color with a large creamy beige head. Nose is massive amounts of toffee and brown sugar. Taste is the same with some candied apples on the back end. Very malty and delicious with a moderate mouth feel that is drinkable and good. Quack-Duck (3123), Bodensee/Schwarzwald, Germany Dec 16, 2008 bottle, díky pivnizube! Dark brwon colour, slightly hazy, medium-sized beige head. Intensive malty nose. Full-bodied, intensively malty and hoppy at the same time. Typical Altbier flavours, but more intensive than usual. Hints of chocolate, nuts and raisins. Resiny-grassy hops balance this off. A delicious brew. Beerlando (2280), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 9, 2008 Draft at Redlight Redlight. Pours a hazy, dark, orange-amber color. A foamy, off-white head settles slowly, sticky bands of lacing remaining behind to coat the glass. Aromas include caramel, dried fig, raisin, and hints of strawberry and red apple. A decent helping of floral, earthy hops is there, lending balance to the nose. Flavors show more of the same, floral hops turning peppery and spicy, lending further bitterness and depth to the caramel and dried fruit notes. There might be a hint of candied nuts within, as well. The mouthfeel is substantial and moderately carbonated, finishing kind of dry and yeasty. This is a very nice Alt. redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA Dec 9, 2008 draft at redlight redlight. Hoppy, piney nose with caramel malt notes. Pours a golden amber with a thick white head. Hoppy bitterness is the first flavor to assert itself. Rich caramelly malts come next, caramelized sugars, finishes with an almost lager-like bite, very crisp finish. Very enjoyable, and fresh tasting. GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 7, 2008 Draft at Redlight. Pours an amber color with a corn, grain and brown sugar smell. Taste is slightly sweet and slightly bitter from the hops. Good beer. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Nov 26, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown color with deep red hues and a very bubbly medium-sized head. Aroma of toasted malt, nuts, fruits, light floral hints and some slightly herbal hops. Sweetish malty flavor with some toasted bread, caramel, nuts (including some chestnut notes) and a bitter herbal finish with faint earthy notes. Medium-bodied. A good quaffable beer, I hope I’ll get to try some more Stickes in the future. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Nov 1, 2008 33 cl. Bottled on 02,11. Code 1202. Lightly hazy chestnut with a lasting eighth-inch cream. Frosting all over the glass. Aroma of cocoa, plum, apple and earth-spiced molasses. Front flavors of raisin and apple coated in caramel, chocolate and some earthy spice. Slowly turns more roasty with cocoa, toasted nut and woody flavors that provide a nice bittersweet finish. Medium body is smooth, lightly tingly and finishes dry. AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 26, 2008 Pours a very murky brown in color. Very little head on the pour. Only a ring of froth around the edges. Smell is very caramel and port like. Age has done this beer wonders. Very creamy and very dark malts. Plenty of aged sherry like port in the flavor. This was a huge surprise. Very well done.
