Commercial Description:
Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today's fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn't negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

Amber color with a medium off-white head. Aroma is bready and fresh with some molasses in the nose. Flavor is like taking a big bite of fresh bread - some nice sweetness in there thats balanced well with a nice helping of hops. Good Alt!

On tap at the Oldsmar Tap House (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark brown hazy color with a frothy white head. Aroma is malty and sweet with notes of hops, phenol, honey and slight notes of raisins and ripe dark fruit. Flavor is also sweet and malty with notes of ripe dark fruit, raisins, hints of prunes, caramel, and spice. Generally medium body with a sweet and malty finish.

Bottle. Low pop when opened. Poured a deep amber body with thin ehad. Aroma is malt, fruity hops, light caramel. Flavor is caramel, strong fruity hops, sweet taste. The fruitiness was not too strong but I could not place a finger on what this reminded me of. Nice beer.

Bottle from my secret santa. Thanks! Pours a dark golden brown with a small white head. Aromas of honey and sweet malts, with some dark fruit notes in there. Taste is bitter and sweet, with generous earthy and bready notes. Doesnt leave an offensive taste on the palate, but it doesnt really excite me either. A well done beer for what it is, but still not my favorite thing to consume. Easy drinking.

From an attractive 11,2 oz distinctively shaped swing top brown bottle with a coded bottled on date on neck label, 31.01. Made a good appearnace, poured a amber hued brown with a fizzy, bubbly pale tannish head. Had a nice tasty aroma, raisins and dark fruits, a little citric, and a sweet bready maltiness with whiffs of alcohol. Good carbonation and a slick, smooth light bodied mouth feel, good drinkability. Very tasty, raisins and citric fruity, a little piney, a nice hop bite on the tongue, an underlining bready maltiness, a dry sour fruity finish with a lingering alcohol burn in the palate.

Funky cool bottle. Took a while to figure out whether this was the Sticke or the Alt... but the Uerige website was helpful. Pour is a medium brown with a fairly large head at first (almost a light brown color) but it has all but died in the time it took me to figure out which beer this was. Aromas are earthy, with sweetness that is brown sugar and dates. Flavor is odd... I expected things to be sweet from the aroma, but there is a sharp bitter edge throughout, and the finish is especially jagged. Allmost comes off as peat on the finish. This is an odd beer that just doesn’t work for me.

Bottle. Dark brown color with deep red hues and a very bubbly medium-sized head. Aroma of toasted malt, nuts, fruits, light floral hints and some slightly herbal hops. Sweetish malty flavor with some toasted bread, caramel, nuts (including some chestnut notes) and a bitter herbal finish with faint earthy notes. Medium-bodied. A good quaffable beer, I hope I’ll get to try some more Stickes in the future.

On tap @ Redlight. Cloudy opaque leather color with a thin, even, very light tan head. Light grainy aroma, slight nuttiness, slight earthy hops. Nice smooth taste - heavy, spicy malts.
