Commercial Description:
Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today's fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn't negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

Nice brown color, not much head. Sweet malt aroma, mild. Much better than I expected to be honest. Was unprepared. Balanced hops with malt seetness. Not too complex just tasty. Reuse this one for homebrew.

Dark amber or medium brown, with a low head. Aroma of sherry, well aged, a bit of fruit, especially dark fruit, and hops. Very sherry-like flavor, with cherries, caramel, and good hops. Tastes oaky and well aged. Much like a British old ale. Very well hopped, with a dry finish of hops and sherry. Nice, but not as good as the regular that I had fresh. The sherry-like aged flavor and aroma are a little too much. A very interesting strong alt. quite different indeed from the regular one. Rich and nice.

Slightly hazy copper body with a thick, fluffy off-white head that produces very interesting rocky formations. Malty aroma with whole grains, nuts, light, earthy hops, a little caramel (or is it toffee?) and a touch of vanilla. The body is hefty enough to handle the surprisingly big flavors. Nice, smooth and lightly sweet malt character is followed immediately by strong, bitter hops that show all sorts of greatness. Some pine character and a little citrus, but the largest piece is influenced by earthy, plant-like hops. Great flavor with a huge hop presence. While it does seem to be at it’s freshest, it’s still damn good. When fresh, this must be amazing.

Pours an amber copper color with a shallow creamy froth. Comes in a bottle shaped like a German granade. Aroma is of malted biscuits. Very nice. I am already impressed. I am waiting to take a sip. Trying to imagine the texture and flavor. Here I go. WOW, not knowing what to expect at all, this has turned into a very surprising result. I am still impressed. Flavors are dry and malty with a fresh biscuit tropshire. A creamy texture like an English bitter. A nicely ballanced sour bittering on the finish. This is a brew you can drink all day. Well ballanced, alcohol is well hidden and flavors are perfect. I love it when the bitterness is consumed with a malty backbone. Keeps you hanging in the ballance. Highly recommended.

Brown pour. Quarter inch white head. Inviting appearance. Aroma more malt than hops with some sweet notes. Medium body. Malts dominate until the finish where hop flavor creeps in. Underlying sweetness throughout. very good, very drinkable.

330 ml bottle. Amber coloured with a grayish note to it. No head. Subdued barleywine-like aroma. Musty apple and caramel. Pear syrup and a little vanilla. Noble hops are clearly being used as it infuses the beer with a very gentle, but noticeable, hop flavour. Medium-bodied, and not at all sweet. It’s quite dry actually, with a well done hop bitter finish.

Cloudy orange-brown/dark copper coloured…wild aroma of fresh herbs, honey, whole toasted grains and sweet sticky malt. Slightly spicy flavour – a bit of pepper and bitter hop flowers. Wonderful tight carbonation, flavourful body with figs, buttered toast, almonds and wheat. Nice long finish…
