Like alt, this beer has fantastic hop aroma, clean maltiness, and a zesty and snappy hop bite. Uerige Sticke pours to a beautiful, bright, deep copper color, with a thick white head, and a good carbonation. The nose on this beer is excellent, with lots of good herbal/grassy hop aromas, and aromas of toast and nuts. The palate is smooth and round, with clean, smooth toasty and nutty malt flavor. Uerige Sticke finishes with more smooth malt up front, then ends with a zesty burst of herbal/grassy hop bittereness that lingers. I love this beer style, and Uerige to me is the bench mark example of sticke and alt. A must try beer for anyone who loves altbier. kkearn (1014), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 14, 2007 11.2oz flip top bottle. Dark amber with a 1/2inch off white head. Sweet malt aroma with notes of caramel and grass. Malt, nut and herbs at first; finishes with some hops that stick around for a fairly long finish. There’s also a bit of ash in the finish. jefcon (1009), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Oct 1, 2006 Dark for a kolsch, with a good-looking head. Aromas of dry leaves and caramel. Lots of body, good level of carbonation. Flavors are malty and dry. Much more hop presence on the tongue than the nose. Also almond and earthy flavors. An interesting, and assertive, alt. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Oct 31, 2005 A little sweeter and a little fuller than the regular Uerige, with the bitterness in the finish a little more tamped down. The carbonation seemed low and for the sweetness the mouthfeel tended towards being watery, which was odd. I’d love to have some more caramel taste in here. dortmunder (961), Herdecke, Germany

Caramelly, slightly spicy nose. The taste is roastmalty, slightly sweet. Hints of vanilla. Ends in a spicy, bitter finish, which is quite lasting. Smooth mouthfeel, creamy texture. I absolutely love this beer. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 3, 2007 Poured into a tall, straight sided Gosser glass, the beer is a clear reddish copper color, with about an inch of creamy colored foam. Surprisingly effervescent, but the head dies down in short order to a thin cap. No lacing. Nice clean malt in the aroma, with just a touch of a canned peach scent in the aroma.
A bold, crisp, clean and almost toffee-like maltiness gives way to a subtle floral/spicy hop finish. Still rather prominent in the carbonation, but without a bite from the fizz. Great classic German flavor. The flavor did not hold up when paired with a bold Glouchester cheese, however. Then again, an English/German dynamic is sometimes better avoided. smith4498 (945), Miami, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Apr 30, 2009 Pours cloudy brown with white head. It’s got lots of little particles suspended throughout. Doughy aroma with some spices. Caramel malt flavor. Medium body with tongue tingling carbonation. Decent and interesting. jtw (944), farmington, Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 31, 2005 dark amber color with an egg-white head. some floral grassy hops, which is surprising from a dark beer. however, there is a bigger malt presence in the flavor, along with some caramel, cinnamon and spice. plus it comes in a cool bottle. really a textbook example of the style.
