Clear amber with a foamy tan head and lacing. One of the first alt. Beers I have had that is so complex. Nutty malt and a grassy hop bite. Nice beer. herbjones (742), Orange, California, USA

The aroma is of dry fruits, brown sugar, and pepper. Taste is kind of hoppy with a roasted walnut flavor !! The finish is dry and very drinkable, nice lacing too. I must say that i enjoyed this brew very much. :) wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 11, 2005 Goblet with a really cool looking long neck. Pours a nice dark amber with a small off white head which turns into a ring around the glass. Aroma is malty with bread, caramel, cookie and a touch of bacon. The cookie is present in the mouthfeel along with butterscotch. This is really interesting stuff which I will certainly try again. ericnixon (719), Northampton, Massachusetts, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 8, 2007 [bottle] Murky brown appearance with a very minimal off-white head. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Nutty malt flavors, with more caramel/toffee sweetness. Very roasty finish, with a slick mouthfeel. demitriustown (701), Shelby Township, Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 26, 2005 Pours a dark copper with minimal head. Aroma is dry white wine, caramel, thickly malted, a nice stickiness to it, a little nutty I think similar to cashews. Caramel, slight nuttiness, bitter sting when first hits your tongue then spreads into a semi-sweet chocolate taste. Palate is kind of light with a subtle stickiness. Unique experience with a nice Alt. I wish I had a bigger bottle of this. BigBeer45 (700), Troy, Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 22, 2009 Small flip top bottle, popped the top and got a good poof! I was not expecting that, gave a hazy ruby brown pour with a one to two finger off-white creamy foamy head that receded to a thin cover, leaves some lacing on the glass, aroma of bread, faint caramel and grass, flavor of bread, dark bread, some malt sweetness, some fruit, there is a pronounced hop bitterness and dryness on the palate at the finish, hop bitterness lingers for a bit on the tongue to, nice drink.
