Commercial Description:
Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today's fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn't negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

Spicey bread and apricots and apricots with a chemical aroma discussed as acetone. Strong alcohol smells and some smoked licorice as well... interesting mixture in the nose. Very fresh and resinous. Thanks to hey_kevin for sharing the bottle!

(bottle and tap at the brewpub, 6%ABV) Clear amber colour with a foamy slightly off-white medium head. Malty, liquorice-spicy and slightly fruity aroma with a hoppy and cinnamon background. Initial sweet maltiness combines very well with the herbal and flowery hoppiness. Extremely well balanced sweet malty and hopbitter finish. What a gem !!!!

Deep amber-red color with a minimal off-white head, this has a nifty nutty sweet malt aroma with a healthy smattering of earthy hops thrown in. Solid roasted malt flavor, not real sweet, with a good hop counterbalance. Even better than their regular alt.

Dark amber to brown in color. Smaller, but dense and stable bone colored head. Side of the glass just a covering of lace. Mild aroma of rye bread, caramel, and crushed dried flowers and mild blue cheese. Starts small and builds as it warms. Has a spicy undertone from the start. Light sweetness mingles with this acidic bite. Deep rich caramel flavors. Light on the tongue. Linger is pure malt nirvana. Yet, to many hops still can be too much of a distraction.

Bottle: Pours a dark mahogany color with a light white head and nice bubbly lacing. Clean mild sugars and caramel malts, plums, nice light melanoidins and a subtle roastiness that blends all this sweetness and light noble hops together. Balanced malty mouthfeel. Creamy body and a smooth mouthfeel. Meaty and juicy altbier.

Bottle. Poured dark brown with a large frothy white head that was lasting with good lacing. Moderate tart fruit rye aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture. Medium complex balanced flavor with a medium balanced finish of moderate duration. Very interesting beer.

Thanks to matta for this one. Pours deep copper/ruby with medium frothy white head. Aroma of malt, nuts, cabernet. Tastes malty, nutty, with toffee and dark fruit. Smooth palate.

Red copper beer with almost no carbonation or head. But the aroma! Nice hops come out, which is surprising for a german brew. Taste is very complex wih a nice malty start and a lingering german hops finish, but everything is there very subtely. This is like the fine beer, very "racée" yet very fresh. Not bored at all...a big big thanks for the MaibockAddict himself .
