Commercial Description:
Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today's fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn't negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

My bottle had the same numbers as the one at left (29.01 on top and 29.02 on the bottom). Good soft light brown color, with some light ambers and fuzzy peaches. Aroma of soft fuzzy hops, lightly sticky caramel malt and some damp musty basement notes. The flavor was soft, mild and lightly warming, but the mouthfeel blew me away. This is the epitome of soft, even delicateness, without being thin. Lightly sweet throughout, (light caramel, light brown fruits) and a hint of brown sugar perhaps. Hops are smooth and nowhere near as bitter as I would expect from this. Extremely drinkable, supremely balanced and I can't say I noticed any alcohol. Has a faint peachy warming sensation on the finish after it has warmed considerably. Exquisite.

Wow- this is not what I expected. I kinda thought the sticke was going to be a lot more malty than thier regular alt. Not the case- as this one was really really hoppy. Nice deep deep copper with a minimal off white head. Aroma is actually more towards a very earthy and herbal noble hop aroma than towards malt. Flavors are nicely balanced between a full munich malt flavor and a nice dry herbal hoppy flavor. Finishes moderately bitter as well. Really nicely done, but for me I’d rather have the original.

bottle, díky pivnizube! Dark brwon colour, slightly hazy, medium-sized beige head. Intensive malty nose. Full-bodied, intensively malty and hoppy at the same time. Typical Altbier flavours, but more intensive than usual. Hints of chocolate, nuts and raisins. Resiny-grassy hops balance this off. A delicious brew.

330ml swingtop bottle poured a clear amber with a lasting light amber head. Aromas of dates, brown sugar and bread. palate was light bodied. Flavors of carmel, a bit of toffee, raisins and a hint of brown sugar with a smooth lingering bittersweet finish.

Really cool bottle that would make a nice bong. Taste was sweet, full bodied and rich. Caramel color with a smallish head. Nice and malty with medium hop bite. Finish was very clean and I wish I had another.

Pours a reddish brown. Small white head. The nose is hopped but also somewhat malted. Nice crisp hop body with a malt middle. The hops lean more towards the grassy side than the outright bitter side. The malt is very grainy and "cereal-like" as another reviewer pointed out. Very pleasant and dangerously drinkable. Damn good beer! I'll need to stock up on this one. Surprisingly lighter mouthfeel than expected. It's almost whispy. Glad this rare bird finally flew my way.

Marcello’s Wine Market, Baton Rouge, La. - long necked 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a dark copper color with a thin, but long lasting off-white head that leaves thick, sticky lacing. Aroma is sweet and caramel like with hints of toffee and cotton candy. Very good caramel flavor with some bitter chocolate undertones. Same bitter notes that are found in many of my favorit Bristish session ales. Turns a tad metallic near the end and just a bit thinnish, but still a very flavorful Alt.

bottle, and killer bottle description below from GarretB. Had this bottle for a while, I think I bought it at High Times up near Irvine. Pours copper and gets orange towards the bottom. 2 finger tan head with nice lacing. Nose is sticky and sweet, with hints of molasses. Its sweet, but all too bitte and really really not my thing, not really tasty to me, and all in all alts are really not my thing. The bottle made me try it I guess.
