Feb 25, 2004 Massively bitter! I'm talking DFH 90-minute IPA bitter, here, folks. And it lingers, in a roasty, burnt malt with hops sort of way. In fact, the hops taste as if they were badly charred before they went into the brew. I, for one, can't handle it due to its having no other dimension but the hops (the malt seems to have taken the day off), but I'm sure others will love it. I feel there's a huge disconnect between the beer I drank (pictured) and the ratings of others. I have no idea why that is. My beer was bought at Whole Foods, NYC.

Apr 24, 2009 Mousy brown color, clear until the sediment is poured in. Lingering beige cap. Sweet doughy aroma, cookie dough with raisins. Low carbonation, very soft mouthfeel. Interesting flavors, the bitterness is pronounced of the herbal, spicy zone. The sweet malt balances it out. Very interesting brew, can’t wait to visit Dusseldorf...

Jan 31, 2008 330ml Bottle: Very malty aroma with notes of dark fruits, herbs, hazelnut, and caramel. Poured brown with a hint of amber in color and a medium-sized, dense, tan head that lasted throughout. Excellent lacing. Cloudy. Sparkling. Lots of tiny particles. Flavor is lightly bitter. Tastes of herbs, grass, toasted malts, salt, and nuts. Medium body.
Slightly thin, sticky texture. Soft to average carbonation. Malty, salty, grassy finish.

Jul 17, 2005 Brown, with a thick tan head. Spicy aroma - cinnamon, nutmeg, maybe? Peppery and earthy, with a piney undertone. Very tasty, with a surprisingly hoppy finish. Thanks Springslicker!

Aug 31, 2004 Very cool bottle, to be considered in appearance. Reddish brown, malty appearance with a light fizz but not much head. Bready, German hops aroma, some caramel cookies, French Fries, and Coppertone suntan lotion. Long-lasting bitterness, though fairly well rounded. Moderate palate, smooth. Interesting; a style I don’t know well enough yet.

Aug 6, 2006 A sweet toasted malt aroma, with a small amount of herbal hops in their too. Flavor is reminiscent of those butterscotch candies, some honey roasted nuttiness, and a bit of brown sugar, but not overly syrupy and complex, just a really smoothed out even flavor.

Feb 3, 2006 Clear amber color with a thick creamy white head. Aroma of malt with hints of honey. Sweet flavor with light hops.

Mar 26, 2007 This one smells good. The aroma has toffee, caramel, and toasted malt, wild yeast, and hops. The appearance is red brown with a bubbly two finger head. The flavor however is not that good. It has the aroma elements but also cardboard and vinegar. The off flavors give it a stale sourness. Heck maybe it is a true "old ale" in the stale sense. The palate is sticky. Overall it’s a good smelling beer that has a problem with some sourness.
