Commercial Description:
Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today's fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn't negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

Bigger, brawner version of the classic Dusseldorf altbier. Like alt, this beer has fantastic hop aroma, clean maltiness, and a zesty and snappy hop bite. Uerige Sticke pours to a beautiful, bright, deep copper color, with a thick white head, and a good carbonation. The nose on this beer is excellent, with lots of good herbal/grassy hop aromas, and aromas of toast and nuts. The palate is smooth and round, with clean, smooth toasty and nutty malt flavor. Uerige Sticke finishes with more smooth malt up front, then ends with a zesty burst of herbal/grassy hop bittereness that lingers. I love this beer style, and Uerige to me is the bench mark example of sticke and alt. A must try beer for anyone who loves altbier.

Crisp, wonderful body, and brisk hops. Certainly worth the money, even if you are paying a little extra for the bottle. Truly classic and really unlike anything else coming from germany. Makes me want to rent a flat in Dusseldorf.

Pours an amber copper color with a shallow creamy froth. Comes in a bottle shaped like a German granade. Aroma is of malted biscuits. Very nice. I am already impressed. I am waiting to take a sip. Trying to imagine the texture and flavor. Here I go. WOW, not knowing what to expect at all, this has turned into a very surprising result. I am still impressed. Flavors are dry and malty with a fresh biscuit tropshire. A creamy texture like an English bitter. A nicely ballanced sour bittering on the finish. This is a brew you can drink all day. Well ballanced, alcohol is well hidden and flavors are perfect. I love it when the bitterness is consumed with a malty backbone. Keeps you hanging in the ballance. Highly recommended.

at the source from the barrell on the Sticke day!; I never knew Altbier could be so complex. Hoppy nose, with hint of caramel and smoke. Extremely complex palate, a lot of hops and malt, smooth mouthfeel with a kind of hoppy smokey finish. This was extremely good and enjoyed in a great atmosphere at the brewpub.

Direct from the barrel. Incredibly malt. You could smell the caramel notes from outside the brewery. Thick body that seemed to melt on the tongue. Nice hop in the end with bitterness to balance the malt body. Amber color, creamy white head.

Strong hop nose - very fresh, vaguely sweet, but all hops. Clear amber brown with white head that recedes to a thick ring. Nicely balanced. Quietly exciting flavour. Strong malt base subsumed with hops that traverse from flavouring to bittering - grassy, herbal, floral, with malt sweetness coming back in the finish. Mild tannins noticeable. Good light carbonation. Firmly medium body. Very enjoyable and a pretty bottle too. Enjoyed with MartinT and Rastacouere. Bottle.

12oz bottle from lee’s liquor: pours a deep red with very silky smooth looking foam, but not much of it. some aromas going on i can’t quite identify, but good. fantastic flavor from the dark malts and hops, they hit the nail right on the head. powerful flavor, but not at all overpowering and a very tasty drink and a very distinct aftertaste. i’ll be getting more of this.. plus i like the bottles. ;)
