Commercial Description:
Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today's fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn't negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

initially, I got an nose of cherry, but it further developed into a bit of a fig aroma, with some hints of "other fruit" tartness. Upon an initial sip, fig definitely stands out as the dominant flavor. It a very good beer with deep, rich fruit flavors. I’m not quite sure what I was getting, but it was dark, rich, and bold. A very rich brew.

11.2 oz. custom bottle. Pleasant, nutty, sweet aroma, some caramel and hazelnut with hints of creamy toffee, flowery, spicy hops and cookieish malts. Some vague fruits lurking in the background. Rusty dark orange color with a slight, fine head. Flavor depth is highly impressive, with plenty of toasty, succulent, sugary, bready malts up front and bright, tangy, salty, herbal, fruity, spicy bitterness underneath, intertwined with notes of butterscotch and leafy hops. Light, refreshing, peppery mouthfeel with a low level of effervescence, body is medium. Incredibly drinkable and a fine Alt.

Copper color. Crystal clear. Very small, nearly non-existant head--it was poured by gravity so that's to be expected. Very minor hop aroma. Fairly malty. Metallic flavor with a firm underlying bitterness. Moderate hop flavor. Medium body. Very crisp and clean. Some bitterness in the finish. Quite good. Smooth.

I've been looking for a replacement for the awesome Blimp City Akron/Macon Ale since they went out of business, and I think I have found it! The beer is a dark brown/amber with an ultra thin off-white head. Very little lacing. The aroma is nice and full, with caramel, malt and sweet fruit. Medium-bodied and very drinkable with a pleasing blend of flavors such as malt, raisin, caramel and hops. The finish is the only place it falls off a little. There is a slight metallic tinge to the fruity finish that was out of character with the beer. A slightly bigger hops finish would make it nearly perfect. As it stands though, this is one of the better Alts I have had.

Bottled poured into a Kölsch glass. US pours muddy brown with a reddish tint. The head is large and attractive. The nose is reminiscent of SweetTarts, malt and dark fruit. Altbiers are gulping beers but the alcohol in this one may deter some from gulping (but I’m happy to say I’m not detered!) Despite the sweet smell the flavor is more akin to dirt, wet grass and green hops all held together with a malty epoxy. This beer is surprisingly complex. There’s still a flavor that hits the back of your throat in the after taste that I can’t quite identify. Umm Umm Good!

Pours a reddish brown. Small white head. The nose is hopped but also somewhat malted. Nice crisp hop body with a malt middle. The hops lean more towards the grassy side than the outright bitter side. The malt is very grainy and "cereal-like" as another reviewer pointed out. Very pleasant and dangerously drinkable. Damn good beer! I'll need to stock up on this one. Surprisingly lighter mouthfeel than expected. It's almost whispy. Glad this rare bird finally flew my way.
