Aroma is dry white wine, caramel, thickly malted, a nice stickiness to it, a little nutty I think similar to cashews. Caramel, slight nuttiness, bitter sting when first hits your tongue then spreads into a semi-sweet chocolate taste. Palate is kind of light with a subtle stickiness. Unique experience with a nice Alt. I wish I had a bigger bottle of this. Ughsmash (4074), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 20, 2005 Bottled. Pour was a hazy medium amber with orange highlights and a tall, creamy beige head. Fragrant grassy and floral hops meshed with a considerable amount of caramel maltage... very enticing. Caramel malts and fresh floral hops throughout the flavor, too... along with some nuttiness. Smooth and medium-bodied at best on the palate, with some hoppy bitterness at the finish. Quite an enjoyable brew, and Style Rating #70. yobdoog (1504), Woodridge NY, New York, USA

Much better than I expected to be honest. Was unprepared. Balanced hops with malt seetness. Not too complex just tasty. Reuse this one for homebrew. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 4, 2005 The beer evacuates the 330ml brown swing-top bottle a somewhat hazy copper with a moderate size frothy light tan head that dissipated quickly leaving a thin coating of lace to conceal the glass. Nose is a mix of sweet malt, and hints of hops, fresh and crisp, nut-like, start is nicely malted, light at the top. Finish is moderately carbonated with the hops pleasantly spicy, extremely dry and somewhat sour aftertaste, lingers long upon the palate, a drinkable beer, but I much prefer the Dopplesticke. Chewy, woody bitterness with caramel layers and lots of earthiness. Things ease up a bit towards the finish, right when I want the intensity to increase. Sort of ashy-tasting, just like its younger brother. Solid, but unspectacular. I grasp what Uerige is aiming for, but I don’t think that this is the best the style can do - that’s Im Fuchschen. mtoast (313), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 10, 2008 33cL bottle. Vigorous pour yields a hazy brown liquid with fairly thick tan foam that fades rapidly yet leaves decent lacing. Rich toffee like aroma, little bit of metallic earhy hoppiness in there also. Big chewy maltiness with a very dry earthy hop finish. Good stuff. Radek Kliber (3986), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada

Appearance: Clear black-tea amber like . Strong tanned creamy top. Good lace created 4-. Nose :Clean, refreshing hop nose , clean sweet malts , softer aromas of mashed malt followed 7+. Flavor/Palate : Big malty front but not heavy as you might expect , earthy- woody flavors followed. Midlle was sweet, caramel like. Sticky texture neatly worked with showing bittering hops.
