Nose is a mix of sweet malt, and hints of hops, fresh and crisp, nut-like, start is nicely malted, light at the top. Finish is moderately carbonated with the hops pleasantly spicy, extremely dry and somewhat sour aftertaste, lingers long upon the palate, a drinkable beer, but I much prefer the Dopplesticke. Chewy, woody bitterness with caramel layers and lots of earthiness. Things ease up a bit towards the finish, right when I want the intensity to increase. Sort of ashy-tasting, just like its younger brother. Solid, but unspectacular. I grasp what Uerige is aiming for, but I don’t think that this is the best the style can do - that’s Im Fuchschen. mtoast (296), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Vigorous pour yields a hazy brown liquid with fairly thick tan foam that fades rapidly yet leaves decent lacing. Rich toffee like aroma, little bit of metallic earhy hoppiness in there also. Big chewy maltiness with a very dry earthy hop finish. Good stuff. Radek Kliber (3948), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada
