Underlying sweetness throughout. very good, very drinkable. duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 18, 2004 Bottle. Cool looking bottle. Really thin neck with a swing top cap. Well, i always thought it was perhaps going to be a little bit stale. Motelpogo said to me that alts are always better from the source, and i will take his word for it. Even though this was a little stale, there was still alot to be pleased about. Soft toffee malts. Grassy, herbal hops in the finish, nice, soft, dry palate. Very nice, if a little stale. joet (1709), Fulton, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 9, 2006 Excellent packaging, nice dark semieffervescent liquid in the glass, looks good, brown turbinado sugar in the nose, touch of toffee, sweet carmels on the tongue balanced something tart and cidery. Interesting. It’s not real lively or hoppy or smokey but still plain, obvious and curious. jah noth (1017), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 29, 2005 Slightly sweet, crackerjack aroma, soma caramel. Nice amber in color with a quick, fluffy white head. Caramel malts are playing nicely with classic, noble hops Finished fairly quickly with lingering hops. Thanks to bkelley for the brew! bhensonb (4288), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 12, 2007 11.2 oz. bottle; 02.11.?? Malty caramel aroma with a hint of hop. Ruby apricot color with a beige head. A bit thin. Moderate carbonation. The flavor is gritty caramel, with some notes of coffee. The finish is fairly dry, and the bitter is noticeable, but not heavy. Intriguing. shadey (1500), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 18, 2009 Bottle from BOTW. I picked it up from the store the same week it arrived and it was already about 6 months after the bottling date. Bottled 10.08. The pour is a hazy amber with a white head of tight bubbles. Aroma is malty and spicy and a touch doughy. Flavors are a touch bitter and spicy. Definitely easy to drink, but not as special as I would have anticipated. Perhaps the age has dulled this one. It’s really a shame that we in states can’t get European beers faster. CaptainCougar (5493), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2004 Pours a clear dark copper brown with a thin and short lived head. Aroma is dry and caramely malty with a touch of chocolate and some hoppy balance. Body is dry and earthy with some dark sweetness and caramel malt. This could use some balance, and is not something I’d be paying $5/bottle for again any time soon. Still a nice alt, but overrated and overpriced. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada

Taste is roasted malt, almonds and dark berries. Light bodied, well balanced, dry and bitter. Very tasty example.
