A nice malty caramel back bone with a good hop bitterness. The hops are present but not at all obtrusive. For 65IBU's one would never guess. Truly a world classic. Really nice altbier aroma, with a bit of smoke and broth. Simple and pure. Dark amber clear with creamy rocky off-white lacing head. Medium watery body with medium carbonation. Smooth drinking. Starts with nice maltiness, rich medium roast with caramelized sweetness. Bready and dusty with dry nutty-sweet finish. Nice hops bitterness with a bit of floral spicyness. After is dry and mildly nutty sweet. I could drink this every day. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 27, 2003 We found this in a liquor store in Düsseldorf and don't ask me why we dump asses haven't bought more of this delicious stuff. Can't think a about it without getting angry...Wonderful brew: Sweet, hoppy nose, hints of strawberries but light. Mahagony color with a big foamy head. Fresh, caramel taste, also roasted malt - very nutty. Syrupy, long lasting bitter finish - just so yummie - damn - I wanna have more in our cellar :-( Hopistotle420 (1178), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA

Sweet dark malts, dark fruit, figs, leather, wood, burnt plastic a definate, caramel, peach psychprof says..yes sir...perfect mouthfeel, medium bodied, caramel, and the most perfect balance of hops in the finish. I am very impressed. Rather bitter, Austinpowers says so, but I feel this is oh so delectable. You have this this ultimate alt. And it comes in a sweet package. And it will rock your world. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Feb 27, 2004 This beer rocks! (Sorry, Hopscotch, and forget you, Powers!) That bottle over on the left is rather a cool vessel to package a brew. Pours a nice clear orange brown with a thin yet lasting tannish head. Aroma of peppery hops and new leather. This sucker has benifited from lagering, that is for sure. Smooth malt balanced with a big hop bitterness. What I love about this the most is the way the incredible smooth malt lingers right through the lingering hop bitterness aftertaste. From homebrewing with the White Labs Dusseldorf Alt yeast a few times, this beer has the distinctive alt flavor that you would look for and the smoothness of a lager. Rant rant rave rave. A must try! | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 20, 2005 Great bottle, definitely a keeper! Pours maple syrup brown with a quickly settling off-white head. Aroma is rich and inviting with sweet malt presenting itself on a background of floral hops while notes of alcohol drift in and out of the nose. Flavor is sweet and floral; malty with understated hops character and teasing alcohol nibbles. In a word, intoxicating. Uerige Sticke is a fantastic seasonal beer and I feel quite fortunate to have found a bottle this afternoon. This is a beer that I could definitely see myself stocking up on around the holidays. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 29, 2004 Clear, dark coppery color, 1/4" ring of dusted brown head. Aroma speaks of little at first, but squeaks up a bit to talk of coffee, cocoa, nuts, a glorious, dark-toned morass.
So, drink up! Ah, smoo-oo-ooth, with a deep, roasty, dark tinge on the palate. Delicate and delcicious, tangible touch on the tongue, great cocoa/coffee feel, that is so light, but so right! Tasty, tasty, tasty!
Niceness personified in this bottle! Hurray for the lucky pubfolk of Dusseldorf that get to enjoy this freshly flowing!
After my critical faculties have retired, it’s nothing but pure enjoyment, full-bodied,long-finish, but so perfectly smooth, I’m left uttering nothing but simple praise: Yu-umm, I’m saying, and wowwy-wow, wow!

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 9, 2004 Ruddy and husky hazen copper brown color, thin, fluffy, beige cap sits briefly, a firm collar remains and a whispy skim; minimal stringy lacing sticks.
Aroma is rich with sweet yet yielding maltyness, honey, nuts, buttered toast, and dried wild flowers or grasses.
Taste has some delicate nuances and subtleties, starts smooth and inviting with tame caramel and light toasty malts but gradually builds with nuts and grassy floral hop tones that are very mild on the bittering, but really nice to let unravel. Bits of whole grain toast make a nice appearance just past midway. Very lovely in that regards, real nice. Finishes with some sweeter candyish fruity malts mixing with the hop tones and toast and drys out very calmly. Super fine and yummy finish.
Feel is quick to be smooth and long to finish with a well rounded medium body and texture thoughout. Favorable buttery and candied sweetness keeps some teriffic balance over the flowery, grassy hops. T’was gone in no time...need more soon.
