DSG (997), Yuvalim, Israel Nov 26, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown color with deep red hues and a very bubbly medium-sized head. Aroma of toasted malt, nuts, fruits, light floral hints and some slightly herbal hops. Sweetish malty flavor with some toasted bread, caramel, nuts (including some chestnut notes) and a bitter herbal finish with faint earthy notes. Medium-bodied. A good quaffable beer, I hope I’ll get to try some more Stickes in the future. nearbeer (1383), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Nov 1, 2008 33 cl. Bottled on 02,11. Code 1202. Lightly hazy chestnut with a lasting eighth-inch cream. Frosting all over the glass. Aroma of cocoa, plum, apple and earth-spiced molasses. Front flavors of raisin and apple coated in caramel, chocolate and some earthy spice. Slowly turns more roasty with cocoa, toasted nut and woody flavors that provide a nice bittersweet finish. Medium body is smooth, lightly tingly and finishes dry. AllAboutStout (595), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 26, 2008 Pours a very murky brown in color. Very little head on the pour. Only a ring of froth around the edges. Smell is very caramel and port like. Age has done this beer wonders. Very creamy and very dark malts. Plenty of aged sherry like port in the flavor. This was a huge surprise. Very well done. lithy (385), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 21, 2008 Hazy golden orange brown color with a finger of off white head. Nutty, fruity, yeasty breadiness and malt. Body is heavy malts, more plums and almond nuttiness. Then a slight bitter finish. durhambeer (619), Durham, USA Oct 18, 2008 Bottle. Dark hazy brown pour with a bit of floating sediment. The date indicated this bottle was at least a year old. Fluffy off white head and great lacing. German hops and malty caramel on the nose and tongue. Dirty/earthy notes. Bitter finish. Not as sweet as I expected. Certainly quite different from the Doppel Sticke.
