A distinctive full-bodied, red/brown ale with a fruity aroma, a malty, fruity taste, with a hoppy bitterness, and a strong, balanced aftertaste.

[cask at North Wiltshire Beer Festival] Syrupy, slight bitterness, rather watery for the style. Having said that, it was the last pint before they took the barrel off so perhaps not the best time to judge it...

Cask at GBBF 2007, CBoB firkin. A hazy dark amber beer. The aroma is sweet mlaty with primary notes of caramel combined with light notes of hops and grass. The flavor is sweet - but a very light sweet note, combined with notes of caramel and bisquits towards the finish, which is slightly bitter.

Orange-brick coloured, pretty still and almost headless. This is a straight-on fruity ale, think apricot and peaches. Its aroma is very juicy at that, but there is a small toasty undertone to it. Rather sugary palate remains quite light in size, but the absence of carbonation makes its caramel notes appear like mountains over which apple trees are commanding. Average.

Gravity, Masons Arms, Oxford. Dark copper, just a stray bubble or two. Sour, ocean apple and caramel aroma. Pleasant earthy caramel flavor, faint biscuit finish. Velvety softness to the palate. Liquid silk. If the rest of this beer measured up to the palate—wow.

Copper red colour with no head. Malt and grass in the aroma. Malt and grain flavour, rather sweet.
