MitchWayne (120), Kokkola, Finland Aug 20, 2008 Sweet roasted caramelly aroma. Nicely full body. The dryness in the end suprises, especially when it doesn’t taste very hoppy. Balanced stuff and warms nicely in the winter.
esox (143), Oulu, Finland Nov 29, 2008 75cl bottle. Pours murky brown with a thin, beige head. Texture of the head is creamy and beautiful. Intensive and rich aroma is complex. Lots of sweet fruits: feremnted banana, peach and plums. Earthy yeast and sweet malts. Cloves and maybe also other spives. The flavor has sweet banana esther and fruitiness, Spicy sharpness and surprisingly bitter finish. Sweetish and mildly bitter at the same time. Bready malts in the middle. Full bodied, silky mouthfeel. Some sticky bitterness and syrupy sweetness in the finish. More towards sweet tha bitter. Truly complex and rich. Supremely balanced and easy to drink. austone (578), Turku; Pori, Finland Nov 15, 2008 75cl bottle. Dark opaque brown, huge foamy beige head. Smooth light vanilla nose, dunkelweizen like banana, liqueurish alcohol. Flavor is alcohol, tangy hops, coffee,
salty liquorice and ammonium with a dry, ashy finish. Very harsh and unbalanced. Medium bodied, strong foaming carbonation. Only two months old bottle, but thats no excuse. matt7215 (627), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Oct 27, 2008 330 ml bottle from a trade with glouglouburp. pours deep maroon with a mid size tan head that reduces to a streak of tan bubbles and a tan ring. the aromas are of spices with dark fruity malts and yeast. the flavour is of deep dark malts with a lot of spice and some late showing hops. not overly complex but very nicely done. the spice really adds a unique touch that i dont usually get with most dark belgian ales. id drink this one again anytime. thanks danny! janir (201), Oulu, Finland Oct 21, 2008 Dirty orange brown color with vanising, creamy and lacy, beige head. Flavor is fruity, yeasty, spicy with some alcoholic notes. Flavor is sweet syrupy malty, plummy, yeasty, spicy and wineous with dried fruits. Hides alcohol very well. Full-bodied, sticky, syrupy and very smooth ly,foamy carbonated palate. heemer77 (3827), Savannah, Missouri, USA Oct 14, 2008 Cloudy, ruddy dark brown body with a large tan head. The vinous character dominates the nose at first. There is also a dank mineral character with some molasses and allspice. An intense taste of gingerbread is all over the tongue with the thick and oily mouth feel. There is some molasses and a little bit of apple that come through as this warms. Rich and satisfying, this huge beer is definitely a sipper. It is like comfort food, but for beer. Nicely done.
