elelwarren (134), SF Bay area, California, USA Dec 31, 2007 A lighter amber, with small head. Mild, indefinite aroma. Flavor is lightly malty, then reasonably hoppy, but more watery than I like in an amber in the middle. best feature is its texture: buttery, not overly carbonated. pint_size (1004), Austin, Texas, USA Sep 7, 2007 Updated: Jan 16, 2008On tap. Great crisp ruby amber color. Short lived head. Can smell the hops. Nice taste with the slightest hint of bitterness, which livens it up a bit. Great crisp beer on the palate. No heavy malt smell or flavor, like some ambers. Really clean and crisp and enjoyable. This beer really shows off the great use of hops in an amber. jeg (115), Austin, Texas, USA Sep 1, 2007 I was unimpressed with this one. Very malty, a bit too sweet, there are better amber ales out there. lb4lb (1440), Austin, Texas, USA Jun 25, 2007 Updated: Sep 4, 2007Dark orange amber color with nice head on it. Sweet malty smell predominantly with a faint hop present as well. Taste is a nice malty slight sweetness, with a light noticeable bitterness but not too much. A good fruity malty flavorful amber worth giving a try. I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Perhaps my new favorite from them. fly (1245), austin, Tejas, USA May 23, 2007 This ain’t bad. really. Does seem that neither the brewer nor I am thoroughly impressed. He was upset by the malt used. I think that for a BBQ place, having a beer with a woody, smoky quality and a slight hint of chocolate (no chocolate malt used, but he thinks the Briess variety added flavors he wasn’t expecting - hope I’m not putting too many words in his mouth as their all from very brief phone conversation). Decent beer, but amber ales don’t tend to do it for me, but do tend to be crowd pleasers.
