Berries and some caramel rush to the nose. Tart berries flavours. Maybe a porter, but never a stout. leaparsons (3963), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Dec 24, 2007 Bottle. Dark brown with a small head. Aromas are caramel and earthy roast malts with some berries. Flavours are toffee malts with berries. Quite yeasty with some citrus tartness. Some dark syrup towards the finish. Average. Pub (4103), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Oct 12, 2006 Bottle conditioned, 500ml. Dark brown with tan head. This seems to be a cross over between a strong mild and a stout. Dark, chocolate bitter malts give a grainy texture to the beer with hints of liquorice and treacle, although not sweet. Bitter on the finish with a tea like taste.
