MartinT (4377), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 20, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Tart cherry fruitiness and chocolate maltiness waltz into raisiny territory in this intelligently spicy and rich Belgian-style Strong Ale. Another gem of the BSA style by Unibroue!
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sticky head of foam protects the dark brown.
-The yeasty touch is eloquent and works wonders with the maltiness.
-Expressive carbonation is detached at first, but a little breathing gets it back in line.
-That tart fruitiness evolves into salient black grapes.
-Mild alcohol brushes against the palate.
-Caramel sweetness protrudes from the chocolatey grain bill.
-This almost tastes like a Sour Ale was blended in a bigger Dark Belgian-style Strong Ale, in 20/80 proportions. Whatever the method used, the result is fantastic.

amish_caravan (212), Winona, Minnesota, USA Oct 11, 2008 pours heavy with lots of head. dark amber color with a scent of fermented fruit and some caramel. very smooth taste with tones of malt and fruit. finish is smooth with a warming feeling as it goes down. would purchase again. Veer (333), Landskrona, Sweden Oct 10, 2008 Aroma: sourish, yeast, coriander, citrus, cranberries, caramelt malt, darker malt, vanilla, coconut... Vinous, mint... armagnac... butter flavoured popcorns.
Flavour: sweetish, powerful, mild rowanberry, malty, yeasty. This is great. Vaguely of saffron (semi-bitter). Roasted apple lingers throughout. Green grapes. A bit too mild & sweet to score higher.
Palate: soft, fizzy as usual (with Unibroue) - though not overpowering.
Appearance: slightly murky deep red copper body w/ frothy yellowish beige head leaving rustic lacing. Todeon (213), Höllviken, Sweden Oct 6, 2008 Bottle. Really sweet taste with lots of raisans and some caramel. Malty and sweet finish. greedycheater (80), Oklahoma, USA Oct 5, 2008 Chocolate brown, hazy/murky pour from 750ml bottle. Huge, off white head taking its time to dissipate. Aroma of caramel and some flower, sweet with a bitter finish. A malty concoction with a Belgian influence. General_Gao (2575), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Oct 4, 2008 Bottle shared by firmbuttstone. Poured a murky brown orange color with a light tan head. Lots of spices (esp clove), pastry, vanilla, and flowery hop in the aroma. There was also a whiff of rubber. Medium bodied and slightly sweet with mild bitterness and moderate to high carbonation. Citrus and tar graced the flavor and made for a nice combination there was also some flowery hops, light alcohol, and a dash of powdered sugar. Delicious.
