Maltiness is a common theme throughout the drinking experience, this is followed by dry dark bitter chocolate. There is a bit of dark fruit and a tartness to accompany the musky Belgian yeast. Good representation of the style.

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 20, 2009 Midnight black pour from bottle. Typical Unibroue smell (what do they do to their beers that make almost all of them smell the same)?? Lightly smokey, toasted nutty taste. Smooth finish. Decent, not great, effort from an excellent brewery. lithy (1800), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

This dark brown beer had a soft a refreshing palate. There was an aroma of slight sour apple , white grapes and some nice easy bitterness in the flavor department. deyholla (745), Bloomington, Indiana, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 20, 2009 Dark robe with light beige head. No enough foam. A typical Unibroue smell and taste. Spicy. Torrefaction aromas are there but disapears quickly in mouth. Not my favorite Unibroue’s one. Do Mr Charlebois loves it? mcberko (171), British Columbia, Canada
