BeerBelcher (694), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Apr 5, 2008 This beer had been languishing in my fridge for a bit, and i regret that I’d overlooked it. It is spicey, full-bodied, tripel-like, and pretty good, despite the unknown age of this particular example.
Appearance wasn’t great. There was a lot of Sprite/7-Up looking head initially, which quickly faded to a scummy coating. Aroma is quite spicey, like clove and coriander. Flavor is a bit over-sweet, but offers nice spiciness and some zesty citrusness. Mouthfeel is a bit sticky. Pretty good.
I would recommend this beer. I believe I bought this bottle on New Year’s Day at Koppa’s Food on Farwell Ave in Milwaukee (across from Comet Cafe).
italianjohn (56), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 3, 2008 My first Unibroue experience and i came away impressed i don’t know if its a Gift from God but the flavor of this beer is excellent poured a nice pale gold color with plenty of head not overpowering but a lot of citrus flavor and a very little hint of some spice .... hides the 9% very well not malty or hoppy very soft flavor a memorable brew gameface23 (9), Haverhill, Massachusetts, USA does not count Jul 1, 2008 Updated: Jul 8, 2008Strong aroma of golden hay. Somewhat cloudy with lively carbonation. Frothy head. Somewhat of a champagne mouth-feel. Crisp and refreshing. Skyview (2641), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jun 27, 2008 Sampled during Cellar’s Wine & Spirits Wednesday evening tasting via Unibroue representative. Pours a cloudy golden blonde brew with a thick and lumpy off-white head that has some nice retention. Aroma of mild yeast, golden grain bread dough, a touch of honey and citrus zest. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonated with flavors of golden grain malt, yeast, some honey and a touch of vanilla. Finish is semi-sweet with a yeast, banana and golden grain malt aftertaste. LawStudent09 (313), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Jun 26, 2008 Cloudy yellow pour with a finger thick off white head. Yeast and corn on the nose. A strong spice and a hint of alcohol as well as some over ripe banana and cloves. kiefdog (281), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 21, 2008 35.5cl from World of Beer (Largo, FL). Pours a cloudy golden honey color with thick frothy white head. Looks like a tripel ale. Smells of bread, yeast, dough, fresh hay, and hints of honey and citrus. Taste is sweet with notes of honey and caramel, malt and citrus. Medium-bodied ale with a quick-sweet apple finish.
