Bottled 5-5-2004. Hazy orange with a small head and average lacing. Aroma is heavily spiced with coriander and maybe ginger. Caramel, yeast and honey play a lesser role. Alcohol is hidden amazingly well, the spices really helped that. Very enjoyable and drinkable Belgian ale. Reminded me of some Fantome beers, but the time this has sat has really helped it IMO.

12/30/06: Bottle.
Warm tan body. Nose of yeast, wheat and fruit. Flavors of fruit (sugar plum and sour apple), wheat, spice (clove, cinnamon, nutmeg and a touch of pepper), bubble gum and a touch of cotton candy. Very interesting and tongue numbing- tingleingly-ishooooous.

(Bottle) Clear orange colour, lots of sediment in the bottle. Brief, white head. Spicy nose with notes of honey, flowers, ginger, cinnamon and coriander. Slightly closed. Spicy, sweet taste with distinct honey notes, hints of flowers (roses) and sugar candy. Fiery and warming, but still hiding the alcohol very well. Nice and tasty, with ginger and roses dominating the aroma and flavour.

Another great beer in the Unibroue stable, this beer pours out a golden honey/orange color with a huge head. Aroma was very spicy and peppery with light fruit being most predominant. Flavors were spicy and yeasty to go with the sweet fruit that carried it. Alcohol was well hidden for a beer over 10%. Very good!

#957, Bottle, sampled at the Champaign Urbana Beer Club meeting in December of 2006. Clear yellow with a big white head, nose is fruity and sweet kind of like red fruits , taste is carbonated. sweet tangy and crisp. For a belgian its not that bad.

Cloudy dark orange body with no head. Smells like a sweet alcoholised creamy dessert with an orange coulis. Citrus fruits skins and orange in caramel are dominated by a strong alcohol taste. Tastes its 10.5% if not more. The very malty body was chewy and thick but wasn’t as great as it should have been because of a totally lifeless carbonation. The flat but filling body and high alcohol presence make it ok as a digestive but that’s about it. A recent thread on a BBS reminded me that I had a few bottles left of that stuff. It can still be found on some specialized stores but I would stay way from it. I never was a huge fan of the fresh 2004 to start with so a flat tired 2004 really wasn’t the excellent beer many claim it to be. To all those who wanted to have a 2004 at its best I say the same thing as to those who wanted to bang a tight Britney Spears, sorry you’re a few years too late.

Wow, this is amazing. Pours a medium gold with a thin white head with great lacing. Aroma is yeasty, spicey, a bit funky and absolutely phenomenal. Flavor is similar with a very nice balance of sweet malts and yeast. This is the most balanced and drinkable tripel I’ve ever had. Alcohol is present at 10.5%, but works well with the spices. A great brew.
