| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 9, 2006 Aroma: yeast (bread yeast), cardamom, Swedish skumtomtar, saffron, lingonberry(?), cloudberry, alcohol, cointreau, marzipan, malt, juniper berry, fantastic, very uniform, hartshorn.
Appearance: turbid orange, tepid color, very beautiful. Light yellow, glittering head that sets quickly.
Flavor: bittersweet, full-bodied, very special, bready, well balanced, peculiar afterbitterness, elderberryish harshness.
Palate: yeasty, slightly sticky, mealy.
Almost loathsome, really good, very strange. A minus was the elderberry and superfluous sweetness.
They’ve used something sour I can’t place.
Completely insane.
My 28th Belgian Strong Ale apropos awaisanen’s comment. :) Tells something about my drinking habits given that he’s rated 3 times more. anders37 (4796), Malmö, Sweden

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 23, 2006 750ml bottle at Bistro l’autre oeil in Aylmer (Gatineau). Pale golden colour with no head and very little carbonation. The aroma is spicy, with notes of honey, caramel, yeast and alcohol. Taste is pretty sweet, with once again, spices, honey, brown sugar, candy and yeast with a powerfull taste of alcohol. It has changed a lot since its release. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA

Poured clear golden yellow with small white head. Soft carbonation. Fruity spicy aroma. Medium-bodied alet that starts with light malt sweetness and fruity (dried orange peel?) spicy (coriander?) flavors. Honey notes also detected. Finished dry with spicy mead-like flavor and minty note. Smooth, rich and well-balanced and having a complex flavor character. An exquisite ale and probably my favorite Unibroue beer.
