Thick smells of citrus fruits and yeast with mild malts. Malty flavor with a spicey hop kick to it. Finishes smooth and silky. The best Belgian Strong I’ve ever had. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 21, 2005 Aroma is a mixture of alcohol along with a spearmint, gold apple, and yeast. The head was a thin fizz and disappeared immediately after being poured. Brass in its color with some sediment and dust flakes in equilibrium. Notice of apple and alcohol in the flavor with a strong presence of spearmint and foil. Somewhat spicey while having a boring mouthfeel. Not feeling this beer at all.

Big beige head that drops to a half inch quickly, and then shortly disappears. The spices really stand out as soon as this is poured – pretty different for Unibroue. Cardamom leads the way, with ginger (and apple) trailing behind. Cotton candy’s in there, too. Between the spices, sweetness and evident alcohol, this is like a /really/ beefed up wit. I like this – it’s nuanced and warming. But it’s very different from Unibroue’s typical offerings.

Body color was caramel just like the candy. Active white head that lasted thoughout the beer. Flavor had a spicey alcohol taste in the begining. On the finish the spices and alcohol settled down and left a somewhat candy aftertaste. Good beer glad the wife spotted it for me. BBB63 (4267), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 12, 2005 Bottle: Slightly hazed sunset hue with large fizzy head and good lace. The aroma is interesting blend of gingersnap, cardamom, corriander, flowery and minty hops, french apple pie, and a touch of funky yeast esters. The taste starts quite spicy and peppery with a big dose of pale and sweet malting. Lots of fruity notes add depth and finishes off with a strange yeasty character that is hard to define. The palate starts aggressive but settles down leaving a herbal and warming feeling in the end. It is quite good and unique but seemed to be missing something upon the finish that left me wanting more. Still I would try it again if giving the chance. beeryum (652), Norcross, Georgia, USA

Flavors included peppery alcohol, nice spices like ginger and corriander. Very smooth mouthfeel.
