This actually tasted very earthy and I did not like the aftertaste. However, don’t let me review deter you from trying it as others seem to have enjoyed it more than me. freekyp (906), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 9, 2004 Very interesting aroma. Raisny notes with a hint of apple and menthol. Fruity and dry with pepper notes, this brew poured a deep reddish brown with a frothy, lasting tan head. Something minty, or spicy not normally found in a belgian was present. One ratebeerian suggested sage. I am inclined to agree it was along those lines, but not sage exactly. The high alchohol content is nicely masked, though it is warming on the way down. A complex interesting beer, this beer also has an active carbonation with snap crackle and pop on the pour. Cornfield (4980), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 6, 2004 What gets me is the aroma. Very spicy with apples and (I swear) mint. It poured a hazy amber color with a fizzy white had that merely coated the brew in short order. Very carbonated. The flavor is complex, apples and cherries, clove, peppery, bready, and nicely hopped. The high ABV is well hidden. A very dry finish. A tasty, warming drink. Crosling (1856), Loveland, Colorado, USA

Dull, muddled aroma of aged hop pellets, ginger, peach, medicines, mint, phenols and light fruits.
Notes of cinnamon, ginger, clove, light fruits (mainly pineapple), cherries and medicines. All this somehow developed into something cohesive but I stll found the alcohol in this a little too much to bear.
