Smells like someone left the chicken w/orange sauce in the fridge a little too long! The appearance is a dark orange with a very large head. The flavor is like dumping an entire spice rack into a belgian ale. Its very confused. Its sour here, sweet there, and spicy to and fro. There is also a bit of dough present. What? What? What? The aftertaste is some sweet and sour sauce and pepper spice thing. This beer is a big ol' confused mess. mreeves (257), Sammamish, Washington, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 20, 2004 Pours into the glass with an impressive frothiness, but the head fairly quickly subsides to a reasonable level. Has the signature Unibroue yeasty flavor, but definitely a stronger flavor than others of theirs. Quite malty and alcoholic tasting, fruity and spicy. Another excellent beer from Unibroue. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 20, 2004 Golden color, fruity aroma and taste (melon, green apple, peach, honey). Has the "signature" Unibroue yeasty taste also. Left my mouth fruity after I drank it. Oh- and the high alcohol is not noticed in the taste, but it is noticed after standing up! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 20, 2004 Sweet, floral, estery aroma, standing out are notes of honey, citrus, pear, apricot and banana, some faint spices and alcohol. Light-medium amber color, lightly hazy, with a frothy, lasting head and lacing that thickly coats the glass. Flavor is sweet and sugary to start, some mildly spicy hop flavors detected, hugely fruity and juicy throughout, somewhat tropical, with a faintly peppery, warming finish. Lush, effervescent mouthfeel, lightly acidic and bubbly, undoubtedly full-bodied. Yet another Unibroue take on a pale Belgian strong style but is no less remarkable for it as is there is nothing else quite like it. dirkules (613), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 19, 2004 Updated: Sep 19, 2004What you come to expect from the unibroue family of strong ales... a dark, bronze, sweet, complex and delicious brew. Add to the fact that this beer comes with a lot of spicy flavours as well... (corriander I think?) and I get drunk just thinking about it! MrManning (1659), London, Ontario, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 16, 2004 Mmmmm what a pleasure! Body is a dark amber colour, that pours a foamy off-white head. Aroms is fruity, spicy, I can’t really put my finger on it, but it is complex. Taste is spicy fruit, with some bitter hops in the mix. Also very complex. Man, I almost can’t rate it it is so complex. Might have to change my rating just to add to it, but my numbers won’t change. Amazing beer! ¾ (5009), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 15, 2004 Big bright spicy nose of chamomile, cardamom, spiced bread. Very sweet everywhere. high alcohol noticed, overly sweet with a nice cloying flavor of honey. Very nice and peppy, one of the favorites from RBSG 2004. Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 15, 2004 Our first impression was the aroma - bubblegum - fresh Bazooka coated in powdered sugar. Passed it around for the non-beer drinkers to smell too. After the voluminous head died down, the aromas became much more fruit and spice. The golden sparkling body was extremely soft, smooth, and bright. Sweet juicy summer fruits - melons, grapes, peaches, apricot, etc. followed by various spices. I’ve picked up a few bottles so that I can rerate, retaste and just plain enjoy this again.
