750 ml bottle...Got this from a friend. Poured a nice golden orange, similar to Orval, w/ a very slight off-white head. Aromas of spearmint, spice, sour grapes, and some yeast. Flavor was all over the place...mint, spice, herb, malt, tobacco, candied fruit, fresh bread...strange but in a good way. Very complex...Palate was medium bodied w/ some warming qualities from the alcohol. Unique and different, therefore, I give it a thumbs up !

Bottle. Aroma is very nice, bready, lightly boozy, with some florals. Flavor is still a bit hot, after all these years, with bakers yeast and dominant belgian esters. Quite fruity. Could stand to sit probably 3 or 4 more years.

Bottle, 75cl corked, shared by the generous thewolf. Hazy, orange-golden body with a minimal off-white head. Ginger and cardamom start on the aroma, with malt and fruits in the background, some yeast as well, but not much. The alcohol is mostly on the same level, with spices up front, and malts and fruits in the back, as well as a alcohol touch. Quite sweet too. Warming, full-bodied, sticky mouthfeel. Spiced and alcoholic finish. It is a bit sweet and spiced, probably needing something to eat along with it. At least on it’s own it’s not the best Unibrou beer I’ve had. (080301)

bottle - Pours hazy gold with no head. It smells of malt, yeast, and a touch of alcohol. It’s flat. I would have expected a high abv Belgian strong ale to be good for aging so I didn’t think the nearly four years of age on this one would be a problem, but it seems that the seal wasn’t too good. So anyway, it tastes sweet and yeast with a hint of citrus, but mainly it’s syrupy sweet. It has a somewhat alcoholic finish, but mainly it’s just flat and sweet. It’s not too bad, but the age didn’t do this bottle good.

Bottle: Pours a deep hazy orange with a fluffy off white head. Herbal aroma with some spearmint qualities, along with sage and violet. Fluffy feel with a slightly sweet flavor. Nice complexity of spices and sweet Belgian malt. Has a minty (spearmint) character as well as a candied sweetness. Nice depth, with a grape skin fruity quality and some sage. Overall it’s sweet and spicy in flavor with nice complexity. Some alcohol warmth, and no real oxidation after the four years. Nice.

The color and appearance are not as good as the nose. It is a light orange color with no head. The aroma was sweet orange and honey nector and it also resembles the smell of fresh applesause but with orange hints. The initial flavor is so sweet and boozey. You can taste the oranges on the sides of your tounge and that thick honey in the back of your mouth. The carbonation is just the perfect amount, it gives you a slight tingle with all of the sweet light fruity flavors. The finish is full of orangepeel and booze.

Thewolf tasting. Hazy orange with almost no head. The aroma is almost like "klejner" (danish christmas cake). Very sweet and spicy flavour of ginger and cardamom, again "klejner" comes to mind.
