This beer pours out a massive head in a nice tulip glass , and it had a very dark nut brown color to it. The aroma is very acidic and sour with minor hints of floral tones. As you drink it there is an initial taste of pitted fruits and raisns with some mild hops for a slightly tangy after taste. the palate is very smooth though containing nice and rich coffee and toffee flavors wiht some nice roasted malt.

Dark brown color with dried fruits and malty aroma. Flavors of dates and dried fruits, some caramel, sweet with a light bitter balance. Nice palate. Very good.

11.2 oz bottle thanks to Glouglouburp. Poured a milk chocolate brown that was thin on the outer edges, reminded me of when ice melts in a glass of soda how the edges get that clear grayish/brown color, with a nice tightly packed off white head. Aroma of chocolate, raisins, citrus acid, alcohol and yeast. Palate is just shy of medium on the thin side with smooth little bubbles from the carbonation that reminded me of a champagne. Flavor hides the 10% alcohol nicely and has an overall yeaastiness with some candy sugar, raisins, and a hint of citrus all melded together with a touch of chocolate. Nice beer but I wish it was a touch thicker with less bubbly carbonation.

Dark brown color. Aniseed, port, raisins, coriander, dark chocolate subtly wafts from the nose. Dark chocolate, dark fruit, oranges, raisin and chocolate malt smoothly meld together in the mouth. Warming port, brandy, chocolate finish. Decent.

Tasted July 07. It’s a very dark beer with a red hue and a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has sweetness, hops, caramel and a spicy hint of licorice. The flavour is sweet with notes of candy sugar, raisin, caramel, citrus, berries and a hint of licorice. The body could be stronger. 2419

Well it was finally time to drink this C & C 750 ml bottle that has been waiting patiently in the beer cellar. It is hard to drink a retired beer because you are pretty sure you will never see another one. Decided to share this with my beer loving brother, so into a couple Duvel glasses this went and it was a very dark brown with a medium tan head and decent lacing. The nose was distinctly fruit with hints of lemon and berry. Mouthfeel very rich and smooth. Flavor was slightly sweet, sort of like molasses, but not overly so. Even more shows up than in the nose, so in addition to the lemon and fruit we get some subtle spices, and this helps balance the sweetness. Long dry finish and it really goes down smooth despite the noticeable alcohol. I think I may have gotten to this at the peak of its quality. A really delightful Belgian Strong Ale that ranks high in my estimation Update. This is another bottle that was bottled ion 11/23/2004 and consumed n 2009. Even better. Simply a sublime beer. Age has has its virtues.
