750ml bottle: It’s about time that I drank this one!!! The cork came out of this one with a loud "POP". This one poured an opaque brown color. There was only a small tan head and it dropped off quickly. The aroma is good, and contains mainly notes of plums and raisins. Some others down there in the mix also. There is a light fizz on the tongue. There are many flavors married together here. There are some dark fruits, a hint of chocolate, faint caramel. It has a touch of sweetness and tartness at the same time. Another excellent brew from these guys. After I drank this awhile (and it warmed up a bit), there was also notes of green apples to the nose and taste.

750mL bottle. Poured a deep burgundy-tinted brown with lots of rising carbonation and a healthy initial head that fizzled down rather quickly. The aroma carries a lovely plum and other dark fruit bouquet paired with chocolate, some raisins, and some alcohol and mild oxidation accents.

Flavor was certainly on the sweet side, primarily of darker fruits and grainy, semi-sweet chocolate.. back-end picked up prickly spiked raisins, dried floral bitterness, and again a mild oxidation presence. High carbonation with a dry feel on the palate.. left a sticky, rather boozy finish. Solid brew.

Poured a dark brown with a small red tint. Great hop smell with a sweetness. First taste provided me with a sweet start with the expected tart finish. My only regret was only having one botltle stored.

Cloudy mahogany body with a short lived almost white head. The beer looks funny with its almost white head over a very dark body, like a naked Mikael Jackson. This one is aging more gracefully than the 2004. If anything it’s even better now than when it came out 2 years ago. The beer is now very very fruity with the usual assortment of dark fruits (plums, dates, etc.). Also very yeasty with Unibroue signature yeast. A little floral hops towards the end is not enough to balance it off. Alcohol is fairly well hidden. Somewhat of a dubbel on steroids. Pretty good but this territory is already covered by far superior beers, including Unibroue’s own Trois-Pistoles.

Pours a deep crimson color, topped by a very thick head of cream solored foam. Long lasting head and a decent amount of thick lacing. Aroma of spicy caramel and slightly over-ripe stone fruit. Full flavored with heavy caramel, dried plum, brown sugar, and spiced rum. A bit drier going into the finish with flavors of tart cherry, oak, vanilla, and more rum. Pie spice, toasted malt, and cherry linger in the aftertaste. Nice complexity. Nearly full bodied, softly carbonated, with quite the smooth mouthfeel. Good stuff, especially when the alcohol warmth kicks in.
