| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 15, 2005 pours a rich dark brown color with a small off-white head and not really any lacing, but what is there is really sticking to the glass. aroma is malty with slight hints of roasted caramel and spice. Flavor is really malty and has an aftertaste of alcohol. Tastes better as it warms up a little, but this is a beer that needs to age a little bit before it’s true potential will be enjoyed. collieman (191), montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 15, 2005 This is nice, but I realy think it needs to be cellared for a few years. Deep dark cloudy almond skin colour, soda head, gone in a second, with a medium carbonation level. Aroma is over ripe cheries and pears, with a robust nutty maltyness, some yeast, and a tiny bitterness. Mouthfeel is silky and a little sandy. Taste is sweet fruity dark malts, with plenty of bubblegum and alcohol, and a deep floral presence. Undertones are un intresting, spicy/spruicy hoppyness that clearly needs time to develop. Aftertaste contains a little burn that I’m shure would smoth with time, but is mostly creamy smoth sweet, with a nutty over ripe plumb nuttyness and just a hint of bitter spice in the finish. Leaves a dryed peach skin dryness on the molars for a long while. Exelent firesider. Cheers ThomasE (5178), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2005 Somewhat fruity in the aroma with clove and other spice detected too. Sits in the glass a lovely dark brown ale with creamy looking head. Strong in its intensity but mild in its flavor. Has a light background of fruit and spice, figs, and clove being a major ingredient. Also reminds me of sweet cream root beer that could be caused by a root flavor i remember tasting. Much darker and better than the 2004 edition, although, it taste almost idenitical. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 7, 2005 750 mL bottle (sampled November 2005): Dark brown with a muddy orange red hue. Persistent, though thin, grayish brown cream. Alcoholic phenols rise in a tingling aroma of spice, sweet, candy coated nuts and soft berries. Beautiful tingly carbonation carries a nice match of chewy berry malts, alcohol twang and lemon rind bitterness. Dark toasted nuts also combine beautifully with the characteristic Unibroue yeast. Blueberries and raspberries linger in a long and smooth, yeasty finish. I had a bottle of this about 6 months ago and it is far superior now than it was fresh. Papsoe (15103), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Malty, roasted aroma with distinct notes of alcohol. Sweetish and roasted flavours with notes of caramel and dried fruits. Lovely fullness with a warming alcohol. No real bitterness. 041105
