Bottle thanks to Lumpy. Pours a deep brown/red, murky, with off-white head. Aroma of fruit, nuts, a little spice, alcohol. Flavor of sweet malt, fruit, dark fruit spices, alcohol. Mouth feel is med.-high body with low-med. carbonation. Overall, not bad, aged well...

750ml bottle at Novare Res. I’d had the 2004, and it was a serious disappointment. So i wasn’t too excited to try this one. Upon pouring it I noticed it looked pretty different. Pours a dark brown almost black color with a tan head. The aroma is dark fruits, caramel, cherries, and other sweet malt. Flavor is awesome, boozy sweet and just slightly fruity. It’s my favorite unibroue beer yet by far. This is just flat out lovely.

75 cl bottle at Hopheads´ tasting 30.01.09 (Trygve). Dark brown color, nice small beige head. Aroma is dark fruit and malt. Flavor is the same, with sweetness and hints of alcohol. A lovely beer,

Poured with a grape-y vinous aroma with a whiff of alcohol and powdery yeast. The flavour was also vinous with a bit of an alcoholic burn in the middle, but overall mellow. Passing time has muted the taste a little — I scored a bottle consumed in 2007 slightly higher.

Bottle, sampled at Woodshop Quad. Pours a dark brown with no head. Sweet aroma, of malt, dark fruit, berries, and sugar. Taste is also sweet, with malt, sugar, and berries. Sweetness lingers nicely. Still pretty nice.

Pours slightly hazy very dark brown with a 1 finger foamy white head that fades kinda quickly to a skim and ring. Aroma is sweet bready yeast, green grapes, dark fruit, pear, a little caramel and candi sugar. Flavor is very sweet and earthy, musty apple cider, dry leaves, lots of plum, candied dates, caramel, raisin, bread pudding with lots of cinamon, a little basement funk. FInish is very long and complex, lots of fruity, herbal and earth notes stick with you forever. Much better than expected, I dunno how much the age has helped/hurt this stuff but it is pretty fantastic. My only gripe is that it is slightly over carbonated, not badly but it is enough that some of the initial taste is lost to fizz.
