If you tasted this beer a few years ago and got disappointed, now may be the moment to give it a second try. I didn’t tell until this rerating where I bought it: it is still available in Saint-Jérôme... God I deserve to go to heaven for writing this here. Almost no foam, dark brown and appealing coffee/chocolate aroma. The taste it has now develloped is truly sweet, warming and fruity. Nothing’s aggressive in here. If you feel alchool, it will definetly be afterward because there is none in the taste, although 10% ! Smooth bitterness kickdown in the finish. This beer is, in my own personnal opinion, one of Québec’s top brew ever! After 4 years, it has become very interesting but I slighlty lower my previous rating...

Pours black with a nice head that does disapates quickly. The aroma is grapefruit and dry fruits with a hint of a sour’s sulfer smell. It is bitter sweet and sour all at once. It hits hard in the begining and starts to mellow as it warms. Worth your sobriety and you really don’t taste it fading away. There is that typical Unibroue taste in there - I can only guess it is in the yeast. avery. very good beer. I am happy I saved a bottle to cellar.

Pours a hazy brown color, with an off-white head. A yeast aroma i would expect from Unibroue, with some dark fruit, spice, and complex malt. A full bodied taste of dark fruit and a touch of citrus. Impressive cover of alcohol which i always look for in beer. A good annual brew! Recommended.

75cl bottle from Party Pak Liquors (Indianapolis, IN). Pours a dark brown to black with thin white head. Little retention or lacing. Aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, some slight vinegar. Flavor is much of the same -- sweet and malty, tangy, some spice, some vinegar and bitter notes especially toward finish. Generally medium to full body with a slightly sour, slightly bitter finish. This bottle was probably sitting on the shelf at this store since it was initially shipped, so not sure how well it has aged in the store. Still, an interesting ale.

Bottle @ Ølbaren. Opaque deep red, no head. Little sour, vinous nose, some soy sayce and syrup. Sourish flavor with liquorice, berry wine, little soy sauce. Gets better as it warms.

(Bottled, 0.75l) Hazy reddish dark brown color with almost no head. Strongly malty, sweetish aroma with figs and cloves. Flavor of sweetish dried fruit, figs, plums, etc. with a tiny hint of alcohol. Medium to full body with almost no carbonation. A sweet, but quite drinkable ale.
