Gr0ve (1382), Oslo, Norway Apr 17, 2009 330 ml bottle. Hazy amber colour. Medium-sized white head that clings to the glass. Aroma is fruity with hints of oxidation and acetaldehyde. Ripe apples. Orange peel. Unlike most other tripels the yeast does not dominate. Nicely balanced flavour. Fruity and definitely on the complex side for a tripel. Some bitterness, but the hops meld nicely with the fruity esters. A classic. Kenbeer30 (41), Texas, USA Apr 16, 2009 12 oz bottle. I passed on the large bottle with the cork in it. I bought the 4-pack for nearly $10. Poured into my favorite tulip snifter. Poured a hazy gold with a fluffy, persistent head. Nose is of fruity resin. Lots of promise in the nose. The flavor carries the promise to fruition. Delightfully sweet tripel with the fruit on the tongue and the yeast in the finish. Light tingle of alcohol lets you know that this is no ordinary drink. Sipped it for an hour. Savoring every drop. Super offering from Unibroue. convex (31), Wroclaw, Poland Apr 15, 2009 Great desert beer. Great delivery of a sweet beer, not overpoweringly so. I will try another tonight, and start my evening with it. sigma23 (217), , Maine, USA Apr 13, 2009 pours hazy yellow with a good sized white head. aroma is fruity- banana, citrus, green melon, spices, and malts. drinks sweet and very fruity with a gritty yeast effect that i think compliments the viscosity of it. finishes dry, almost wine like with a yeasty after taste. very tasty! sleestak (180), Williamston, Michigan, USA Apr 11, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy gold with a thin but frothy head. Mmmm...yeasty. Lots of fruit - citrus and banana - and spice in both the aroma and flavor. The formidable alcohol content only registers as a warming in the gullet upon the finish. Such a stellar Belgian-esque beer for both the price and availability jrt (62), USA Apr 9, 2009 At 9.79 a 4 pack, La Fin Du Monde is a bargain. That’s as much beer as two 750ml’s of Westmalle tripel, but less than half the price. And I think it would be held in higher esteem by bierdos if it wasn’t so ubiquitous. Anyway, it’s as sweet, fruity, and yeasty as you would expect from a tripel but with a spritzier mouthfeel and a sharp, dry aftertaste. Papillon (172), Sudbury, Ontario, Canada Apr 9, 2009 Updated: Apr 11, 2009341 mL Bottle. Murky gold body with a small but tenacious foamy head that kept the beer’s surface covered all the way to the last sip and coated the sides with very good lacing. The aroma is a bouquet of apricot, hints of banana and melons, spices, and the alcohol comes through with that 9-octane. The alcohol also comes through in the flavor, not in a way that assaults the senses but in a way that asserts: "Hey! My octane is 9, sip me like wine; don’t guzzle me". Otherwise, the flavor is like a fruit salad in a bottle; apricot, peach, banana, green grapes, and plums followed by a citrusy aftertaste and a creamy-spicy finish. A great sipping beer for those tenacious wintry days that linger into the spring months. DandyWolfFloyd (331), Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 5, 2009 The aroma is definitely with a yeasty, citrus, and slight alcohol aroma. La Fin maintains an excellent full white head, over a cloudy golden color, finishing with a nice lace. It’s flavor is full of citrus, yeast, alcohol properties, and some spice. The finish is smooth, a little too smooth, got me in a heap of trouble. The carbonation is well balanced, and the flavors aren’t too strong. Just right
