Unibroue La Fin Du Monde

Abundance of spices, citrus, and yeast in the aroma and flavor. Pour great with a thick white head. Good hop touch. A bit more alcohol and it would be almost overwhelming. Almost.

Bottle@home - 2006 vintage Apperance: Hazy golden orange with a ok sized head. Very nice lacing! Aroma: Tropcial fruits, Yeast, Cloves, Citric notes. Wonderful! Flavor: Honey, Fruit (Apple, Pears, Bananas), Spices (Pepper!), Yeast. Palate: Carbonation is at a medium level. Very nice balance and absolutely no trace of alcohol. Very impressive! This is a favourite that i keep on coming back to again and again. Insanely drinkable for a 9% brew. Has the typical Unibroue yeast-character but if you can’t get past that, you’re missing out! Recommended++!

Bottle. Aroma of spices, citrus, lots of musty yeast. Flavor the same, so much yeastiness. Definitely a good (or better) beer, but just a little too overwhelming with all the yeast for me.

Bottle. Pours a golden yellow with a thick white head. Aroma is sort of odd, skunky-ish, some spices (clove maybe?). Flavor of a slight yogurt sourness, mint julep, melon, and yeast. A little heavy to drink. Decent tripel though!

Preface: I have enjoyed this beer for years, and having requested a case from brother Jer to celebrate my second son’s birth (Michael Mark, 10lbs., 12 oz.), I revisit Unibroue’s pride with a respectful confidence....thick, pillowy four-finger head froths the in THE La Fin Du Monde tulip... body is thick, orange/peach, and sediment-filled...tracings are like rhythmic ocean waves... flavorful, bright bouquet of yeast... hops are brisk and pleasant, with a slight citric injection... medium-bodied with a full finish--minimal alcohol presence, active but not obtrusive... reminiscent of the Schneider folk’s brews--refreshingly clean, crisp, complex with clove, spruce, cinnamon, vanilla, watermelon, pear, and citrus ... palate-cleansing and complimentary to a host of foods--most notably these nachos! Cools and burns at the same time... an almost unbelieveable combination of refreshment and taste, readily causing amnesia at the thought this was ever a tripel at 9%....beautiful.

There are multiple cliché images, songs, and phrases that run through my mind whenever I think of or see the La Fin du Monde from Unibroue. Literally it translates to “The End of the World.” Quite fitting I must say for a strong Belgian tripel worthy of the best of her native homeland, Belgium, even though she is from Quebec, Canada. Besides being fun to say and chuckle about, La Fin du Monde is also an excellent beer to drink. After all, if the world were truly ending, I know I would want a damn good beer in my hand, for which she perfectly fit the bill.
She came to me in a bottle before emptying herself into my glass with a huge head of foam which rested most decadently on top of her hazy orange body. Bubbles stream from bottom to top, releasing an aromatic assault of spicy yeast notes, pungent wet sourdough, melon, apples, cinnamon, and leather. Some might say yuck, but I say yum. Her body and mouthfeel is as delicious as her nose, sweet and viscous with a mild chewiness. Weaving a subtle layer of spice and yeast, apples, melons, and pears also make their presence known in this varied and well-balanced palate. A lingering citric bite in the finish cleanses and brings me back for more. The further I go the more her warm embrace slowly pervades through my body, leaving a faint breath of spice. Rich, chewy yet smooth, yeasty with orange, melon, and pear essence, apples and spice, and a citric lemon nip hold this amazing Belgian-style tripel together. Hopefully the world never will end, though if there were to never be any more La Find du Monde that would surely be an end to my world as i know it.
Unibroue never fails to always satisfy me, and more often than not, she blows my tastebuds away. La Fin du Monde falls squarely in tbe middle of said equation. While definitely more vibrant and faithful than some Belgian tripels I have quaffed, she doesn’t quite equal her predecessors either. I wonder how she would age, so I must remember to set aside a bottle the next time I bring her home.

Solid. Perfectly appropriate and enjoyable aroma for this style. Translucent, luminous peach color is perfect. This would have been even better had it not been for the unfortunate sticky aftertaste that wasn’t all that pleasant.

Beautiful tripple style ale .Good shit. You can feel the erratic spicy alcohol jumping through your organs .I get excited drinking beerz like this. Dangerously eazy to swill .loved the bottle design.Orange peel esters and pepper corns with overweight Maltiness. Dry ,spicy -cultured glass of plonk.
