m4rest88 (216), Beverly Hills, California, USA Sep 26, 2008 Pours with a murky golden color with a medium sized wide head that mostly diminishes after 1-2 minutes.
A lot of fruit in the aroma - smells like apples, pineapples, oranges, lemon, and some honey. A little bit yeasty as well.
A little bit of a dark fruit flavor with a sweet beginning, and it finishes off slightly bitter. I can taste all the fruits I mentioned in the aroma, as well as some grapes. A bread-like flavor is also prevalent.
Medium palate with lively-fizzy carbonation.
A really good beer! Was not expecting this to be this good! Flamojune (93), Ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada Sep 26, 2008 Biere tres robuste mais quand meme rafinéé. Legerement épicée. Une triple digne de ce nom... BeerBaron617 (306), Novi, Michigan, USA Sep 25, 2008 Finally! I’ve tackled Unibroue! I’m not sure why I’ve been putting this off for so long, but I’m a little regretful that I didn’t try this earlier. It’s damn near perfect. It pours a hazy orangish-amber with a disappearing head. The aroma is of dark fruits, and sweetness. The flavor is just insane. It’s like a good cinnamon bread, with raisins and sugar. I just had the Dark Horse Sappient trip ale, which doesn’t even come close. I will definitely be getting all of the offerings from Unibroue as soon as possible. Cheers! gerardoluna (195), Mexico Sep 25, 2008 [Eyes] Cloudy golden straw color with a BIG head with good retention.
[Nouse] Full rich aromas ... yeast, esters, cloves...
[Mouth] Great, Malts and Belgian yeast, good fruitiness, apples, oranges, lemon, honey, sugary sweetness, fresh bread, some almond...Very carbonated with a fairly thin body.
Serving type: bottle TinyTim (24), Perth, Australia Sep 25, 2008 Attractive, hazy pale poor. The aroma is melon and citrus and lots of yeast. Smells and tastes like a belgian blonde or tripel. Lots of exciting fruit flavours, but very yeasty throughout. Alcohol is also quite prevalent in the nose and the palate. The finish is pleasant. yalnikim (776), Wellington, New Zealand Sep 23, 2008 Tasted 23/09/2008. 330ml bottle from Beerstore (if I remember rightly). Pours a lazy hazy pale yellow gold . A little glue-like on the nose, reminds me of Westmalle yeast, with a rich sweetness of ripe fruit, alcohol and a background "white" spice. Hints of creaming soda or lemonade "spider" too. Spicy and watm in the mouth, sweet but not as much as the nose suggests. alcohol is a little too prominent for my liking. Loads of citrus. Oh hu her!!! Alcohol is too much. Hot and spicy. I reckon this would be a nice beer with a milder fermentation profile. elektrikjester (7), Marietta, Georgia, USA does not count Sep 21, 2008 Strong citrus aroma, though slightly malty. Orange-yellow appearance, with some cloudiness and slight effervescence. Thin but enduring white head with good lacing. Taste is prominently citrus, grapefruit mostly. Light spice follows, with the taste of hops and slight yeast flavor discernible. Great flavor and perhaps even better mouthfeel. A very fine tripel. Hinez57 (129), Clinton, Mississippi, USA Sep 20, 2008 Mild malty bready aroma. Paleyellow, thin white head. Nice depth of biscuit, toast, toasted malt, light caramel malt flavors with a distinct but understated "Belgian" yeast character mainly mild spice. Wonderful mouthfeel with a dry finish for the style. Overall a decent tripel. More drinkable than some versions, but less complex than the best examples.
