MrBeerFanatic (344), jamestown, New York, USA May 12, 2008 This one was a little to sweet for my taste. Has a nice orangish color/white head. It has a bready/fruity/spicy flavor and is very sweet. This is a desert beer. SuperDave70 (1157), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA May 11, 2008 Pours a golden orange with a thick white head that leaves some nice lacing. Aroma of peaches and citrus, with some yeast and spiciness as well. Flavor is similar and sweet. Nice alcohol bite. Very nice. EnSiFeRuM (501), Quebec, Canada May 9, 2008 Bouteille de 341 ml. May 8, 2008 a very nice and very drinkable tripel. Alcohol content well hidden. for me seems to have some similarity in flavour to a hoegaaden forbidden fruit? either way is a very nice triple, not the best I’ve had but far from the worst. Very nice tylerss20 (101), New Hampshire, USA May 8, 2008 Pours orange with fizzy head that goes away fairly quickly. Notes of oranges, lemon, apples, and spices. Mouthfeel is very crisp, almost soda-like. Thin, but refreshing. A bit of an alcohol burn. Definitely a warm weather beer. I took off a few overall points because I was a bit misled by the style, and it is expensive in my state. But it is an excellent example of a crisp, bready, citrus beer. GoLdFiNgEr (83), La Pocatière, Quebec, Canada May 7, 2008 Bière forte à 9% similaire auc triples belges des trappistes. Note d’épices et de fruits. Le goût du houblon et du malt sont très présent. La texture est très agréable. Légère amertûme à la finale.
Excellente bière qubécoise!!! shalloWMeans (160), Independence, Kentucky, USA May 7, 2008 Finally sampled this at the Unibroue beer tasting Fairfield, OH. This is one of those beers that you’ve always wanted to drink but never got around to buying it. So this just kind of fell in my lap. I was reasonably impressed by the bright gold body, large marshmallowy head, and decoration of Belgian lace on the glass. I think of this color as "king’s gold"... and a Duvel instantly comes to mind. There is an immediate scent of Belgian candi sugar, dessert apples in cinammon; very sweet, swimming with caramel. The taste, as expected, was strong, sweet, and only slightly bitter with fresh, bright, citrus notes, lingering candy, and tropical fruits ( a hint of mango perhaps.) Overall a lusciously soft palate and medium/ long finish. I can’t say this exceeded my expectations, but that’s only because I already had set them so high. The same goes for all of Unibroue’s beer. I expect nothing but the best from them, and I’ve never recieved anything less than that. yespr (11645), Copenhagen O, Denmark May 4, 2008 33 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a fizzy white head. Yeasty, light wheaty, orange and mil spice aroma. Flavour is medium sweet towards orange citric. Light yeasty spice note and coriander. Light orange fruity flavour into the finish with a light mellow yeast note.
