As it pours from the bottle, a slightly hazy lemon yellow, the head creamy in texture, the size masterful, the color a brilliant white, as it evanesces it leaves a silky sheet of fine lace to cover the glass. The aroma of finely malted grains dominates the nose, citrus crisp, lightly sweet and a pleasure to the senses. Ambrosial start with lots of malt, the top middling in its feel with a spirited acidity, masterfully hopped, and a long drawn-out aftertaste that is dry. The 9% ABV, make this a real “Belly Warmer”, for these cold winter days and nights, a beer I love, and I always have a few bottles on hand as they age gracefully and I wish I could say the same for my own self. Ranks #282 on my current 1000 beer master list.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 15, 2007 Bottle from Brouage, France. Cloudy gold colour with a decent white head and good carbonation. Aroma of sweet malt and yeast. Flavour also started sweet, with some citrus fruit and a good, hoppy dry finish. Enjoyable. Penetrating yeast and citrus aroma with tones of sweet apple and light spices. Sharp flavor of yeast and citrus and a tone of alcohol. Banana and apple in there also and some hops towards the end. Quite dry and biding and not overly balanced. mabel (2626), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Hazy, light orange brown body with a long-lasting creamy white head. Wheaty fruit flavour is boozy. Light-medium body, alcohol is quite noticeable. Did I mention it was booooozy? What *is* the world coming to anyway?

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 28, 2008 Appearance: Pours lightly hazy, golden-orange body with a smallish, white head.
Smell: Fruit juice aroma smelling of pears, peaches, and pineapple -- really any fruit starting with ’p’ will do. Nicely spicy, hint of orange peel, too.
Taste: Pale malts and a large portion of candi sugar quickly followed by a flavorful medley of fruit juices from the nose, plus a greater portion of banana. A counterbalance of spices, bitterish orange peel, and hops try to match the sugars present. Slight yeastiness throughout, maybe a bit of bagel dough. Finishes crisp and quite fruity.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Slight stickiness to the mouthfeel. Medium-high carbonation.
Drinkability: So fruity! A delicate, delightful tripel. tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 28, 2004 Great dark golden colour, small head. Lots of citrus and even some bread like notes in aroma. Taste is a perfect balance of fruity notes, mostly banana and some lemon, with enough malt character to cover up the alcohol. Finish is a slight hoppiness that lingers. Good carbonation as well. A friend noted this was a stronger Blance de Chamblay, and while that is simple, I can see where he gets that. The best tasting beer at this alcohol strength that I have had. Nice hazy orange color with a fair amount of sediment that enters the glass as I pour the last fifth of the bottle. Nice white head with a slight amount of retention. Not much lacing. Nice malty and fruity taste that intensifies with the finish. Very slight alcohol taste, but not much. Nice sweet aftertaste. Excellent beer!
