| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 24, 2005 Updated: Apr 21, 2006bottle - Pours with a thick head, moderate staying power. Aroma seems to be a fairly typical citrusy Belgian scent, but it’s decent. At the initial taste I feared the fruit elements were stronger than I like, but it warmed on me. The palate was a bit disappointing, I think mostly because to me it was too bubbly. This is a very good beer. It is not, however, a great beer like the previous Unibroue brew I tried, the Trois Pistoles. Indra (2030), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA

Serious head retention. Flavor profile starts off with a big malt hit, and then the faint bitterness and yeasty fruitiness take over. Smooth, lightly effervescent, soft and creamy palate. Very nice interplay between the ingredients. An excellent Tripel. Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA

Tasted sweet and dry and hid the alcohol quite nicely at 9%. Well-crafted multi-dimensional beer. Would make a great present for a special occasion (like the end of the world). cheapdark (2017), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA

It is one of my staples and my beer fridge is never without a couple of bottles of this one. Even before my all consuming passion for good beer took hold I was drinking this one and their Trois Pistoles. I can not believe it has taken me this long to sit down and rate one. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this fine brew pours an opaque bright orange color with a large white head. The aroma is strong and has a strong yeasty element and notes of pear, apples and spice. The mouthfeel is thick and the flavor is strong with sweetness. There are strong yeasty tastes and ripe fruit - pear, apple and maybe a hint of apricot. There is a mild dry spicy finish that is stark contrast to the sweet beginning and middle. The 9% alcohol is well hidden in this beer. In short this is a fabulous beer and one of my dear favorites. radiomgb (1999), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
